Not a full group set and disc brakes of any type are completely unnecessary for a road bike.

    Icy.

Interesting opinion - even if its wrong

After moving to full 105 hydraulic groupset a few years ago I'll never go back to rim brakes. Maybe you can argue your case for a weight weenie, but for us "larger framed" riders disc stopping distance is considerably shorter. By comparison, my old Tiagra rim brakes on a Trek terrify me when pulling the levers.

I commute on my roadie - and am grateful at least weekly for the extra stopping power.

Can't say I've any experience of cable discs though - everything I've read tends to agree with @mspen (edited)

Frame is decent but it's a part box special. If you're choosing your first road bike you might not realise the cable disks means different shifters. They are rim shifters rather than hydraulic so it's a very expensive thing to change. And cable disks with rim shifters are a real fudge, the worst of both worlds. Spend a bit more and get a full 105 fit out.

Can you recommend one with a full 105 fit out?

Vitus Zenium £50 cheaper with full 105 and hydraulic brakes. Worth a look?

Good price, shame it's cable discs, at the RRP that wouldn't be good enough. Fulcrum 900 wheels are a bit weighty, again, fine at the sale price, a bit of a negative at RRP.

I bought the 2021 version of this bike but full 105 Hydro Disc for £800 second hand.

Absolutely amazing bike and really was a proper upgrade. I wouldn't buy this set up though ... Really not worth it even though the frame genuinely is extremely comfortable in terms of taking out road buzz and also in terms of geometry.
