For those that don't know, ONKYO have been known to be a good brand. You tend to only have heard of them, when you're into AVRs (These types of things - Audio/Video Receiver)

Though, it should be noted, that ONKYO was bought out by "Premium Audio Company" and "Sharp", after going bust last year. forbes.com/sit…833

Have an older version of this and has been faultless for 8+ years.....

I caved as I needed a decent 4k setup, they had stopped all production and I thought that was it... Now I can get rid if this crap DenonAVX2700 and go back to what I know and something that will happily sit running flat out without kicking in temp protection!

Has anyone ever heard of this brand and able to comment on quality?

Jokes aside I wouldn't recommended a onkyo amp having had two that both failed on me just outside the warranty period. I remember at the time reading up on forums and they were prone to irreversible issues in a relatively short time frame. Both mine ended up at landfill site and I made intention never to buy this brand again. Read up on forums on the poor reliability of these amps. I have had a denon also and from my experience yamaha make the most reliable amps. Maybe some people have had had them last longer but I would definitely recommend having two failed on me shortly after the warranty periods with relatively little use.

they last longer if you turn your fridge temps lower to about 3°

Andrew Robinson's video from May 2022 is about the TX-NR7100, but at the beginning of the video he talks about Onkyo's recent(ish) bankruptcy and where that leaves the company and customers:

Quick question without spending Elon Musk money on an Amp what amps are out there with 3 HDMI outputs, we had the Sony STRDN1050 but within a couple of years it gave up the ghost (a year after the warranty ended). Seems typical with them as they have issues with the board, screen intermittently flickered on off.
We've not had an AMP for years but really need to sort out the wiring. Any ideas anyone?
    gerardgimbert's avatar
I've got a Denon AVR-X 3400H, whatever the newer equivalent 3xxx should have the same, I have 2 discrete outputs and a 3rd which mirrors zone 1 if that is good enough for your needs? We use it all the time to play stuff in 2 rooms from 2 different sources. I imagine 3 separate zones will be the next step up in the range.

I remember the joke well and see the great man has showed face!

Onkyo run hot, Denon much better!

Amusing post, can certainly tell the under 40's here.... Unlikely to happen but, eagerly awaiting someone to post a linn amp ahem deal, and the same unknown brand comments
  28. Amir_'s avatar
We have this brand of amplifier, we never knew about this brand, the audio visual expert recommended it to us and it works well. Our one is approximatel 6-7 years old now however it is an older version of course compared to the one in this post

    aren't receivers expensive these days?

Onkyoncame to the fore about 20 years ago when Dolby HD first came out. Then they went a bit downhill after about 10 years. (edited)

Anybody able to actually add this and choose an address?

I'm getting the following with every single address I've tried and different Amazon accounts:
"Sorry, this item can't be sent to your selected address. Learn more. You may either change the delivery address or delete the item from your order."
    rossington's avatar
Same here I spoke to Amazon support and they weren't much help and said it could be because it's actually out of stock but that doesn't add up as they appear to still have 281 in stock (you can check seller stock levels by trying to add a high number like 999 to the basket). I've sent RS as message as well to see if there's a problem they can fix.

I get the feeling some don't know or weren't here when the years-long meme about Onkyo started on HUKD...

Though...seeing as hi-fi buffs fear younger ones are more into bluetooth speakers than hi-fi rigs and ponder its potential demise, it could be a bit of both
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
I was here when it started (on my other acc), it's amazing how long it's carried on for.

I thought onkyo had been bought out by Ski 🤭 :/
  34. Grey101Ace's avatar
My first AVR was an Onkyo - I was happy with its sound, however it ran really hot (not sure if they still do, was common then, this is 20 years ago) and I ended up having a lot of problems with it (green lines across screen) which I got fixed under warranty and then it happened again with drop outs not long after warranty ended so I was not that impressed wiht value for money and moved to Denon, which has been working fine for nearly 10 years.
