I have a TCL and I'm starting to hate it. It is so laggy and crashes all the time.

This is the same experience of a friend of mine who has a 2021 TCL Android TV. However some one on here recommended this video to speed it up and it really did work >

Summary of the main speed improvement settings >

    1. Enable Developer Options (easy shown how in the video)
    2. Turn off animations in Dev Options
    3. Set Background Process limit in Dev Options to At most, 2 processes
    4. Force GPU rendering (Force use of GPU for 2D drawing) also in Dev Options
    5. In settings disable Usage & Diagnostics

Optional settings (described in the video above) :

Disable Android TV recommendations or use a 3rd party launcher such as Flauncher
Remove bloatware via settings or more advanced use ADB App Control to remove the apps you don't need.

I've got the 50 inch version as my xbox/bedroom tv, great tv, quick and pictures more than good enough

    Good to know. I’m pondering..,

Received a fairly good review at ~£399 whathifi.com/rev…-tv - the reviewed one doesn't have the K at the end though as it could be an Aussie model. (edited)

TCL are always good value for money and a better option than Hisense or any Vestel re-branded sets.

These also have local dimming, though TCL keep changing what it's called in the settings for some strange reason.
On my Daughters cheap 2023 set it's called 'Micro dimming', on our 2022 model it's called 'Local contrast'.
As this is a 6** like ours it's probably 'local contrast'.

    What's wrong with hisense?

Decent, although the delivery makes this more expensive. Would have bought with free collection at this price point
  7. AJ10's avatar
These are better than that Vestel crap for the same price.

Also picture states 65” & 50 “ in first and second which needs changing. (edited)

Seems to be a decent TV. Currys and their pricing structure. It was this price back in August and beginning of September, the deal is posted on here. Increases by £30 only less than a month later to go back to £299.

Had a TCL for 2 years now and the picture is very good but I find it awful for gaming. There's terrible motion blur. There's settings to turn it off and gaming presets etc but doesn't make it better.
    matys88's avatar
Because it has a 60Hz panel. For better motion you would have to buy something with TRUE 120Hz or 144Hz

Looking for a chep tv aaround 55 inch only for movies...has vesa mount?
    Stetec's avatar
    Yes it does

Something like a Firestick might fix it?

Would prefer an LG but the “Roku” branding with this TCL has me wondering….

How well does the Airplay feature work? Is it usable and reliable?

How good is Airplay with Roku boxes in general?

How bad is the crapware with these Android TVs? How easy is it to disable all Google features and spyware? (I use a separate box for apps, so I just want to use this as a TV, plus the Airplay feature).

Bought this 55" TV 6 weeks ago and I am not disappointed at all. However I had to pay a further 20 Groats for delivery and a further 80 Groats for a 3 year parts/labour warranty. So 400 Groats altogether.

What is the difference between this and the TCL 55P639K that's available on Amazon? Here: amazon.co.uk/TCL…H16
From what I can tell there is no Roku on the Amazon set but is this all? Is the screen better on the P639 compared to the RP630?
    spursRus's avatar
    No Roku
