Can this do trench cuts. Its for making large window frames

Crap forget that. I thought this was for a sliding mitre saw (edited)

It is a sliding mitre saw, but no it does not have a depth stop for trench cuts.

A good saw but no laser guide.
    Freddo_V_'s avatar
Lasers aren't that accurate depending on the width of the blade. Ideally you'd have a light that casts a shadow of the blade onto the timber, like some of the Makita ones do

Nice set up what we would have if we had the space. 🔥🔥

Is this a worthy upgrade to the Titan 210mm sliding mitre saw? Mine is on its last legs and looking to replace soon but after something more precise and possibly more portable.
    DAVEMHART's avatar
I swapped to this from a Titan or equivalent and it’s night and day on accuracy. Bang it on 45 or 90 and you know that’s what you’re going to get. Huge time saver vs lots of test cuts as I had to do before

Was just about to order, then done some research, it may be worth reading some of the 1 star reviews on Screwfix

So the bearings have gone on some. When trying to push the guard off, with trigger, it's hard, takes arm strength.
A good few says there is too much play in the guide tubes which cause non square cuts.
I agree, seems very off putting.
Although some of the reviews are from 6 years ago, maybe they fixed the build quality?

Great price! I'm gonna use it for cutting my sandwiches

Awesome cheers, been fancying a more portable solution for a while! Shame it doesn’t have XPS shadow line, but can’t complain when it’s less than £145 haha

Used my tradepoint card for further 10% discount, final price £130.05 thanks (edited)

Thank you OP, my dads chop saw is falling apart, so been keeping an eye on this model for us both to use, fantastic price. Ordered for collection this weekend.

    From where?
  13. steve_b_333's avatar
Purchased this and it’s foldable stand last year. So far I’ve used it for skirtings, kitchens, and other bits while refurbing a house. At this price is brilliant.

Great Saw. Don't let the lack of a laser put you off. Just mark your line on the timber. Lower the blade to the line, adjust, then lift up and start the saw. Remember the width of the blade and the cut is perfect. I have several dealt saws with the shadow line feature hardly ever use it and if its sunny outside you can't see it anyway.

Ordered, thanks OP. had 2 in store at my local

I bought the Evolution R210 literally a few weeks ago, if only this was on offer then!
Not that it's not good, just would prefer the dewalt and the size....

    Heat from me

I wouldn't buy this personally as there's no laser or shadow light to see where your cut will land - I make regular use of this myself. I would shop around for a deal on the DWS774. (edited)

For more than double the price (310 instead of 144), I'll take putting the blade against the wood whilst static. Especially for home use where I'm not using it for critical construction work, which frankly I'd leave to a professional anyway.

Couple of months ago I built a bench with my dad's chop saw which tilts but doesn't slide and the protective shield broken and it came out really well. This will be a dream in comparison.

I've been waiting all year for these to come down close to travis perkins price for the 774. Many say the shadow light is inaccurate. At this price, its very good value. Ordered, cheers op.

Great piece of kit this. Borrowed my neighbours to do a large decking area project last summer and it made it a breeze.

Used one similar to the dws780. This seems limited for the ££, though if you’re doing loads of small repetitive cuts - good bit of kit

I'm in the same boat ,in the Erbaur deal comments section someone said the Erbaur had better reviews ,i've read them and a lot of them pack up after minimal use and no spares available ,so i'vecwent from 100% Erbaur back to this deal , some of the negatives for the Erbaur were packing up after light use ,inaccurate cuts , no spares available at all.

According to the specs it can cut 177 x 62mm - so yes it should be able to. (edited)

Gah ordered at 6am this morning to be delivered tomorrow and just got a cancellation notice!
  37. Daisychainstar's avatar
They’re still taking delivery orders on it. No idea why as they’re cancelling them after. So annoying as then have to wait days for a refund

Hemel Hempstead was showing one in stock. Gone by the time I got there an hour later. Then, long drive to Wellingborough.
Ran out of time to order gift card via bluelight. So paid full price as store was closing. (edited)
