Are these better than apple AirPod max ?
    Wahooo's avatar
From the research I’ve done online I’d say they are fairly equal - AirPod obviously better for apple ecosystem but I’m not willing to pay more than double for minor connectivity benefits. £550 imo is vastly overpriced from Apple for them.

How do you get the discount?

I wouldn’t buy from Amazon Warehouse again. It’s a lucky dip. Got the mx4s like new a while ago and they arrived in pristine condition.
I recently got the mx3 and mx5 like new deals during prime day. The mx3s arrived with a cracked headband and were clearly used a lot and the mx5s were faulty (left cup was marked and sounded dull and crackled with bass).
I returned the mx5s and was refunded no problem. Returned the mx3s as well and still haven’t been refunded. Amazon claim the box was empty upon return to the warehouse. I can assure you the headphones were there. Still not been resolved 7 weeks on. Not worth the risk in my opinion. Been an Amazon customer since 2009 and have now cancelled all subscriptions.

nice I prefer the RX7 myself but MX5 also great

In a headphone device, after certain level quality in music and NC, I really can not differentiate. I absolutely can not see any value on spending £100+ in a headphone.
    May be it's just me.

what would you recommend in the sub-100s? (edited)

Edifier WH950NB better value IMO. Amazing sound...

Been looking at those. Very interesting.

    Fairly expensive still.

Be careful with these as I have had to buy many sets of headphones from Amazon Warehouse to find ones that work. Jaybird Vista I bought 2, one worked.  Sony WF-1000xm3 I bought 3, one worked. WH-1000xm3 I bought 2, neither worked.  It seems people send in broken ones to get money back. Allegedly they are tested before going out, but I would argue they don’t. (edited)

Weirdly I've never had any bother with over ear headphones and Amazon Warehouse - in ear headphones, on the other hand, have been a horror show!

Readily available online brand new at a few places for £250/£260 - not a great deal this considering they are second hand in effect.
    Nathan_Cai's avatar
Can you advise where I can get them new for 250/260? Thanks!

They look like pimped cheap ear defenders. Zero effort in design

Looking for something with Micky Mouse ears on or something?
Not that much you can do with headphones, they look like that for a reason me finks.

I bought mine from Sony for £250. I'd wait for a better deal

Haven't been £250 from Sony in months.

I've decided never to buy any headphones from Amazon Warehouse again. The last 2 pairs of 'as new' in ear headphones had visible ear wax on the buds. Made me want to gag.....thought it was a one off but second pair the same. Over the ear slightly less risky!

I got the Mx4 for £150 or so like new and they were mint.

Are these foldable? Or I am best going for the 1000XM4?
    Suerte's avatar
I bought the xm4 because they could fold and because the price of the xm5 was higher for limited gains in features I wanted. I don't regret my choice, they're excellent. Rtings have reviews of both of your interested.

    £240 for used sony's ?

    and it's hot?

    wow.
    ItsNotTimeToStop's avatar
"Sony's" what? Because it's not a luxury brand they shouldn't be worth this much? Are you familiar with the XM line if headphones?

I took a look, listen and feel of these in the shop. Why do they feel so cheap and sound so tinny? Sony have always had that type of sound but these are really baseless compared with other brands about this price. I'm thinking the Bose ones unless anyone has a better option? But with these Sony ones they just feel so cheap!
    Minstadave's avatar
They do feel a little cheap because they're very light, that's not a bad thing in many ways.

Tinny though they are not, they're not basshead headphones, but I've never seen anyone ever call them tinny. They're got a fair bit of bass boost if anything and they go low too:
