So, an extra £10, £16 & £20 for Essential, Extra & Premium respectively

They really want to kill Plus Premium, don't they?
  2. Dominatez's avatar
I have been with PlayStation since the start, but I think it's time to call it a day and just play on my pc. The increase is a joke and a greedy one at that. Sorry, but if they want to keep milking people then they will find alternative routes to go to play and Sony will not be one of them. Massive price hike will be to pay for the rest of Sony's failing divisions like their mobile phones, laptops and TV's that have massively poor sales.
    HaggisHunter's avatar
I made that decision half way through the PS4 Generation.
I'd never gotten rid of the PC anyway, still hung onto an ageing build for PC only stuff.
The pay for online and paying the console tax for games just became too irritating for me, so my sub ran out and I just sold it all off for PC upgrades.
The nil running costs and game price savings pay for upgrades or toys like the quest2.

Ps plus is now dead to me
  4. splashme's avatar
My PS subscription has run out but I refuse to play ball with these increases, single player games it is. Its no different to Netflix, rubbish content and higher prices. This has to take a toll on their services/profits eventually. Literally what kid is going to get a £60 basic subscription as well as games at Christmas, especially with the financial mess the west is in right now.

    I brought a year of premium a year ago....and haven't used it once?...waste of time getting a PS5...Gumtree

What is going on? Are Sony trying to sabotage themselves?

Game Pass has Starfield just around the corner as well as a new Forza and new Persona games to be included in the service.

I own both consoles and have always preferred Sony, but not this generation. Where are the games? Where is the value?

Seriously regretting spending so much on my PS5.
    Glasshalfsmashed58's avatar
Sea of Stars is on both Plus and Game Pass. Been playing it today. It's really good. Far better than I expected.

I thought I'd give it a quick blast before starting Starfield.
So much for that idea. I've been glued to it all afternoon.

There's not much on Plus that I want to play. If you're the same, I'd give Sea of Stars a bash. (edited)
  7. cbarsenal's avatar
The one thing sony doesn't get enough stick for Is how you have to have a subscription just for cloud save game files, if you don't have this and your ps5 becomes defective you lose all your game saves which forces some people to buy the subscription even though they don't play online or use the monthly games.
    cbarsenal's avatar
Nope, you can on ps4 but not ps5. All you can do is full system backups.
  8. The_Guru's avatar
Nobody happy in this thread yet people are voting hot 🤦🏻‍♂️
This will only encourage Sony to put prices higher and give worse games!
    Ed.Winchester's avatar
Yes, this thread is integral to Sony's planning
  9. Moody_Cloud's avatar
Awful, absolutely awful. The cheek they have to announce this dog on the same day they announce a disgusting 20% price hike for all tiers. (edited)
  10. Transmat's avatar
It's not even a moderate price increase is it. Greedy corporate ****** (edited)

    Metacritic scores for these games…
    Black Desert [61]
    Saints Row [61]
    Generation Zero [45]

Keep up the great work Sony and charge us more for the privilege!
    Br0wnst0ne's avatar
Ouch, I didn't think Generation Zero was that poorly rated, I quite enjoyed it when I went through it on Game pass

  14. AoifeNet's avatar
Christ, the ‘sales’ on the PS store and the general quality of games on Plus really make me regret buying a PS5 sometimes. Absolute garbage this month, even by their usual standards.
I think I’ll go back to playing the series X for a while.
    BrafferZ's avatar
You still have the vast PS5 exclusive library... all 4 titles.

Ah its no biggie, costs a lot to develop a game, and TBH 50 or 60 a year is what 1 or 2 games?
I like plus, given me many great games I wouldnt have bought and its still value for money to me and I dont game online, but each to their own.
But then Im a sad old man who started out with the Spectrum, todays gaming is much less hassle50892127-Rzk9e.jpg
    The_Biscuit's avatar
£60 is one or two games to you. I, however, like to wait so that £60 is a lot more than "1 or 2 games" to me.
  16. Carlo_Abbona's avatar
If you want to top up your sub before the price hike, Instant Gaming has £50 top up cards at 19% off - they come at little more than £40, making the yearly sub for the highest tier cost £80.
Plus you also get 1000 star points (1250 points equal £5 of PSN credit)
  17. MDL199's avatar
I'm a big Playstation fan growing up with all the previous consoles but it's impossible to defend this price increase. I only subscribe to the essential tier basically for the games, cloud saves and occasional online game session. With this increase it's going to be cheaper for me to pick up the games I like in my Plus library 2nd hand rather than continuing to subscribe. I'm 99% an offline gamer anyway. If enough people at least downgrade their Plus sub if not cancel altogether then I'm sure Sony may offer some decent discounts.

I also think Jim Ryan must be the worst CEO of PlayStation ever. He comes across as gruff in interviews and seems totally out of touch with gamers

I had auto-renew turned off, but turning it back on it says this:

    50891912-YtKMn.jpg
So presumably it'll renew at £49.99 then? I'm on the Essential level.
    mossmanfly's avatar
Will increase once the price changes 6th September. So auto renew will be the same as you will be buying it after the price change.
  19. cicobuff's avatar
How on earth Saints Row managed to get an average of 61% on metacritic I do not know.  Installed and uninstalled it within a couple of hours...about the only fun I had was the amusement of making a gender fluid character to run around in the game....soon got bored and uninstalled.
  20. McSheng's avatar
    Absolute dog this month. (edited)
    Yukes's avatar
It's actually quite impressively abysmal. It'll still get defended by people saying it's "free," but it isn't, and your time MUST be more valuable than this!
  21. Blastoise's avatar
Sony have got some cheek to announce a significant price-hike alongside these games
    hypaed's avatar
Next they'll be releasing a hand held games console you can't take out of the house....
  22. GOODSTUFF's avatar
I really hope activision deal goes through and xbox starts to pick up again. Sony dominating is only leading to them being greedy and turned into Apple of gaming industry

The best thing about this PS Plus month is that it probably can't get any worse than this in the future.

    Sony: “hold my beer”
  25. ThingyGuy's avatar
I like how every time the new games are announced, people make it sound like the Sony CEO personally just turned up on their doorstep and shot them between the eyes
    BrafferZ's avatar
with all he "crap" sony is recently doing, it most certainly feels like that.
  26. Kifflom's avatar
Whats the deal with them offering not-so-great games alongside poor news? Surely they'd want awesome games to go with this price news?

If you're silly enough to pay £120 for the top tier, you're one of the reasons these prices are going up.
    JamJamz's avatar
That was my thought too, should have put better games on for Sept. Makes the price increase news a little more palatable and shows how good ps plus can be

Wow, what a kick in the teeth.

Was gonna extend my PS+ Essentials subscription before the price rise, but think I'll swerve that now...
  29. roryharvey1's avatar
Remember when PS Plus games had to score a certain amount to be added? Now we pay more money AND get lesser quality games.
  30. ajameswood's avatar
Not a great month by anybodys standards. The best thing about it is it isn't making backlog any longer.
  31. lucas's avatar
Meh, sub finished last month, won’t be resubbing for this drivel
  32. Lifeline's avatar
Another poor month, so glad I didn't renew my subscription when it expired!
  33. The_Biscuit's avatar
A day later and it's announced the Saints Row developers have been shutdown. Sony must have aquired the headliner for pennies...
  34. misterjoint's avatar
Such a bad month along with the price increase. Negative publicity and comments incoming for Sony...
  35. deleted611510's avatar
I think who ever did this messaging for this at PlayStation needs a rethink and possibly not very good at communication and timing.

To issue a bad set of Monthly PS+ Septemner games and then Jack up the price considerably and then issue a statement saying ""continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service"....

Would have eased but not taken away the uproar over those massive price increases if they announced the price increase a week or 2 after this months September games for PS+.

Just Sony being greedy...They should have kept the prices as they are with 47m PS+ Members (March 2023) they clearly are in a good position but this was a bad move and comes across as greed rather than need.
Will see if any offers come through after mine lapses next year... Im not going to pay full whack £100 at any point for my PS+ Extra. (edited)
  36. ArjangBaiggYt's avatar
I've had ps plus since I had the debut ps4... It's just gotten worse and worse and is fully not worth it anymore
  37. paraszt's avatar
What a load of kak this month.

Saints row - buggy af AAA game with awful reviews.

Black desert - pay to win and old

Generation zero - 4/10 ign score (average score is 7 so waaay below average). Last gen version only, capped at 30 FPS.

And the cherry on top is a near 30% price increase to the annual subscription. Worst month we've had in years.
