    Good Post OP #Updooted✅

Thus follows a mini-diatribe, about why I'm slightly sad that I just don't get excited about higher-end mobile phones any more (for those of you bored enough to read onwards )

Part of me really wants to buy a higher-end phone like this X5 Pro
But I think that tech-nerd gadget-lover part of me, is just no longer that interested 😜

After being perfectly happy with my (pretty basic) OnePlus Nord 5G for the last couple of years, I just got delivered this morning the Oppo Reno 8 Lite 5G refurb-deal for **£129** that was posted yesterday!
(And I only bought that, because it was hard to not resist the value and I fancied a change)

The only features I would actually value on the upper end phones are: Wireless Charging + maybe the fast UFS 3.1 cable speed... but it just doesn't seem worth an extra £300-£400 for that!
    - I just seem to have stopped caring about: Faster CPU's, More pixel perfect Camera's, More HZ refresh on the display, etc 🤷
    - The 'fancy' Find X5 Pro doesn't even include the SD Card slot (I like having my 100 GB music collection on my phone, so 256GB or an expansion card is a minimum) + 3.5" jack that my bargain Reno8 Lite has!!)

And with that, I'm outahere... D

How many songs is that ?

Not a fan of Oppo Phones since i tried to repair a Find X2 with a cracked screen. A new screen costs more than the phone did when it was new and they are very hard to come by, virtuallty non existant on ebay, aliexpress and amazon.
At least with Samsung phones, the screens are widely available.
Its now been relegated to being a 5G mifi hotspot for my car, and my current phone is an S23 Ultra (edited)

    If I didn't already buy a Magic5 Pro I'd be buying this.

I tried the X5 pro didn't like the camera coming from a P20 pro ,returned and bought a magic 4 pro - great upgrade

Get an X2 pro instead. Much better phone than the X5 pro. I've had both and wish I'd kept the X2 pro

I've literally just bought a used Find X5 Pro off eBay in mint condition for £380. Upgraded from a Find X2 Pro and prefer the X5. My reasons may be slightly different. I'm only hitting 160GB storage so 512GB is nice but I'll never need all that. I like the slightly smaller and lighter form factor but wanted the wireless features of charging and Android Auto for my car. I was looking at wireless AA adapters but decided for what I'd spend, I can just upgrade my phone instead.

I'm really happy with the X5 Pro. Not a massive difference in cameras compared to X2 Pro but I'm not massive on photos etc anyway. I just really like Colour OS. It's clean and easy to use. My father in law will inherit my Find X2 Pro and he will love it for sure

I'm always sceptical about listings on phones that are advertised as Brand New, Never used, but been opened. Why would a seller open a box to inspect it and remove any labels for 'inspection purposes'?

Not saying these aren't new, just can't fathom why they'd be in that condition if they were actually new and you are the first original owner and user of the handset.

I like to buy new, and would pay a higher premium for a sealed, and new box. I'd just be a little doubtful I was indeed the first owner. And why only 6 months warranty if it's new?

I agree mate. I never buy these types of deals. Rather buy from Giff Gaff or similar a used phone.

God I hate these Ebay listings. Described as New but it's been opened. How can that be new?
    dahokolomoki's avatar
    Long distance selling regulation.

When you buy a New phone online, you get 14 days to return. Any reason. You're allowed to break the seal on the box, start the phone, try it out. Just need to return it in As New pristine condition.

Retailer now can't sell the phone as new anymore. As the seal on the box has been broken.

Loved my Oppo overall, except the supposedly monthly updates for my x5.
In the 7 months I had it, I only had 3 security updates, and they were always 4 to 6 weeks out of date.
I may have been unlucky, but got a refund and won't buy another Oppo.

Love my X5 Pro, which I got on the Giffgaff Ebay deal for £350 in July.

It replaced my trusty P30 Pro that I kept for over three years.

Battery life isn't great, but it charges quickly.

The carbon fibre official case is ridiculously priced at £45 but absolutely worth I for the lovely tactility of the thing - last had the same feel from a phone when I used a Motorola Razr I...

Absolutely excellent phone imo. Had mine for some 18ish months. Camera is absolutely brilliant. Battery life easily gets through a day. The 80w fast charge is a really superb feature. First time in my life that at the end of the contract I may very well stay with the phone and go sim only!

I have been using the X5 Pro for best part of 9 months. The only gripe I have with it is that the notification vibration time cannot be adjusted. IE: setting the long vibrate option in WhatsApp doesn't work. It just doesn't change from the default split second vibration when a notification comes through. The camera is pretty decent as is the screen quality. The superVOOC charging is the best I've ever seen on a phone so far.

Got one today. Phone is pristine, factory screen protector removed. All accessories inside. Charger has scuffs, so likely this isn't really never used, but the phone itself is flawless.
