Book your tickets now to a preview screening of Blackberry, on 4 October, two days before its official release. Every era has its visionaries and now it’s time to uncover the brilliance of the people who invented the world’s first smartphone, starring Jay Baruchel.

Reimagining the Canadian company’s humble yet chaotic rise to dominance, Blackberry is a darkly comedic tale of its tragic success story. See how they revolutionised the way we communicate, seemingly overnight, before swiftly plummeting into obscurity.

Never heard of Blackberry, only know Apple and Android. Was it a 90s thing?

Yep, good film. I'm enjoying the current trend for big business grow and crash films and TV series, that are done with a tongue in cheek.

Had the blackberry storm and then storm 2, as the first phones haptic, push in screen mechanism broke. The storm 2 mechanism broke too. Really liked the concept but that was the last blackberry I remember.

Yep...at work, got issued with blackberry pulse, which was great at the time (with it's keypad buttons), and was before the iPhone, and think the Nokia 3510 was the typical phone of the day.
I'm not sure why they failed (assume film will tell), but guessing the ability to innovate at the same pace as Apple, etc, will probably be at the heart of it.

Oh, it's not even out yet? I was confused why my local cinema wasn't showing it despite it coming out months ago most other places. Bizarre.

I had a Blackbery Curve and went to the US on a uni trip and all my friends (with Nokias and Motorolas etc) ran up £100s bills sending messages and calling home etc and I didn’t get one extra charge. I can only assume it was something BlackBerry did to the network and I basically had free calls and texts to my home country. I will never know how that happened. (edited)
