Think amazon are price matching this.

I have the TC65 that Amazon sell which I believe is exactly the same. Here are some of the issues I have:

16:9 is really unsuitable for domestic CCTV. It gives you an intrusive view of your neighbours (both sides), while restricting the depth view. I mounted mine under the soffit & can't fully cover my length of my drive.

If you use the privacy mode to obscure your neighbours it places big, ugly, black squares on the view rather than just obscuring. You are limited to squares & a total of four, so two each side available. This means that to obscure your neighbours entirely, you will invariably have blanks on your property.

Motion detection using pixels rather than PIR is generally poor. It will be triggered by leaves, grass, rain, insects, car headlights & even reflections of clouds on a car roof. It also has Line crossing Detection. I watched the postman cross that this morning without triggering the camera.

1296 makes no noticeable difference over 1080 & quickly pixelates if you try to zoom a recording.

Using tiny, non-captive screws to secure the non-captive panel where the SD card lives is lunacy. Why not a simple captive rubber bung that can't be dropped on the floor from 20 feet.

The stupid exterior aerials serve no purpose other than to draw attention to it.

As already covered, the redundant, huge, ethernet connector can't be removed.

15fps is just about OK for capturing people but won't capture detail on a passing vehicle.

I also have one and agree with all the points made. Rain sets it off constantly and even grass blowing in the wind if it needs a trim. Its about as cheap as it comes for a 24/7 camera and worth the price if its just to check back footage if something happens/stolen ect. But if your using it as a actual real time camera the alerts will drive you mad!! I'd go for the wyze v3 camera which I also have on my main property and it is flawless in everyway and worth every penny of its £50 price tag.

Grabbed this image from a YouTube review.
Will need a big hole drilled depending on where you mount it.
That ethernet looks big and I don't think you can disconnect it for power only?

Does this do continuous recording to SD?

Also, does anyone know if this affects the actual internet speed (rather than just using the internal capacity/speed of the WiFi connection). Our internet runs off of 4G at the moment...extended to a standard wireless AC/powerline WiFi network.

Would really like to invest in multiple cameras of this kind to create a big network of cameras - but unsure if it will be possible with the existing network?

    Final question - does it have an interface where multiple cameras can be viewed at the same time via an internet browser tab? Like this;

(For a v.busy charity that operates both indoors and out across a fairly big site)

    Thank you (edited)

All TP link Tapo cameras support RTSP, you can use any RTSP Program to display cameras, I use ContaCam to see all live feeds and record, setup motion detection.

Saw this on the email. Decent reviews on amazon too.

I have two of these and I can confirm they are very good. The app is excellent and has all the features I could want and more. My only beef with these is that when watching a live stream from the camera for more than 5 minutes it stops streaming and displays a message asking if you want to continue watching.

What is the highest video quality this camera can achieve ? I'm interested in the video bitrate and fps.
    Twotellys's avatar

I have 3 of these cameras and they are great.
    James_Turkish's avatar
Do these run off battery or require a mains plug
  9. corred1964's avatar
Great little cameras at a great price, decent image quality & good connection reliability.

If I wasn't looking for a single camera with multiple lenses to give 180 Degree coverage I would certainly buy this

Onboard Micro SD storage also means you do not have to pay a cloud subscription (edited)

The C420S has a 113deg field of view if that's any help (I know it's quite far from 180) but I can vouch for it.

I’ve got a couple of Tapo cameras, can’t fault them for the money.

    Thanks OP ordered

decent this! I have one, alerts are pretty good and so is the cloud package (Think I Paid £30) decent overall!

Have two of these, sometimes it doesn't alert me when someone walks in front of the camera

Will these work with the Tapo solar panel? Bought it because it was cheap on here but it comes with a micro sd connector. Can't find a cheap camera to put with it!!
    corred1964's avatar
No I do not think they will as they are always on 24/7 recording not just motion detect & a solar panel would not supply the required power for that, it required mains power

Sorry if I'm being thick.....I wanted a camera outside my ground floor apartment. I presume these have to be plugged in?

My bedroom window looks out onto our private road and my car is parked opposite.

What's my best option in terms of placement please? How can I hardwire it electrically?
    JamesStam's avatar
You can't hardwire it electrically. You plug it in.
  19. GenuWhine's avatar
    do these have rtsp?
    HPMan's avatar
    Yes.
  20. Dutrix's avatar
Can you record 24/7 audio and what's the sound quality if anybody has it?
Also what's a good microphone for cctv to capture clear sounds outside without background noise? (edited)
    HPMan's avatar
Sure this does sound and you can talk out of the camera too.
  21. Phr33ky's avatar
Does this connect to both 2.4 and 5g networks, or just 2.4?
    rbz5416's avatar
    2.4 only.
