Xiaomi/Poco/Redmi advice

Hi Community

Seeking your advice. Although I don't really know which phone to go with I believe these brands give good bang for your buck. I've read that they are bloated with adverts. Is it possible that these can be permanently removed?

I'm looking to spend around £200 and it doesn't need to play videos/games. Can anyone recommend a mobile in this price range and it doesn't necessarily have to be the brands mentioned.

Thanks in advance.

I've got a Poco which is amazing.

The ads thing is a no-thing. I've removed most of the bloatware apps and there isn't a single ad in sight on any of the apps that I use.

I never really understand these comments about adds. I have 2 of these brands at home and have had for quite a few years now. I do nothing fancy. Uninstall what can be, remove others from the home screens and disable notifications for anything I don't use and I never see any adds or annoyances. Works like any other phone. I see what I want - nothing else

Set up an alert in your HUKD account for this Motorola Edge 40 Neo to come back in stock hotukdeals.com/dea…177

If it comes with the free earbuds as before you could sell them off for £100-150 & have the phone for under £200, you will struggle to get a better-spec phone for the money.

Also, sign up for their newsletter & get a 10% off code motorola.co.uk/mot…ers, making the phone £270 after the code.

From the specs gsmarena.com/com…467 , these are the key areas that are hard to find on any other £200 phone...
    + P-OLED, 144Hz, 1300 nits (peak) display
    + 12GB RAM
+ Camera with OIS & EIS
    + IP68 dust/water resistance
    + WiFi 6

OP: probably best to avoid that source for the M Edge 40 Neo as the merchant claims to be based abroad; has a history of actively and routinely dismissing its UK consumer legislation obligations; doesn't know its own UK registered office address; hasn't bothered file its UK accounts that were due last year; and generally has a repeatedly-cited diabolical CS reputation. Clearly, any rational consumer would regard a purchase from such an organisation to be reckless.
Genuinely surprising that HUKD still permits the merchant & its associated domain names to be quoted on this forum.

agreed. I've been on the Xiaomi train for years now, and there's and ad or two in the Mi Video app which you can turn off and in the music player. tbh, I don't even use these apps so they're not an issue. there aren't ads in the OS, MIUI, it's a android skin that looks a lot like an iPhone.
Unless you're Donald Trump and scared of sending your data to China, ignore all the misinformation around them, they're great value.

My previous mobile was a Huawei and it was shockingly bad at Google pay due to it constantly closing apps in the background.

I'd never buy one again as it never got security updates either.
