I prefer an electric blanket- £40 to buy. 10 minutes on full power at 90watts then switch to low power for a bit at 22watts.
They cost peanuts to run even if you are barmy enough to be paying the price cap.
They heat the whole bed, and if you get cold you don't have to get up and boil a kettle.

A gel pad is better than a water bottle, it lasts longer.
But it wont warm the whole bed like an electric blanket, I never used to use either until an ex got me to buy one, can't beat getting into a toasty warm bed when it's freezing out.

Hot water bottle has always been my go to, can't be spending anymore to keep a blanket plugged in!

I prefer a bottle. Portable factor inside the dressing gown.

However. They do burst with time, so there is a risk of scalding.

I'm sure there is a small risk with a blanket too, but never known one to set fire.

Neither - I have a 2.5tog duvet and a 17c bedroom temp and I am still too hot.

Electric blanket with a wool filled quilt. Just on low for 30 minutes before bedtime and then a couple of hours after.

We just have an electric under blanket. Put it on 15 mins before bed time and switch off about 5 minutes after getting in. A bit lazy , we have it on a smart plug so voice controlled.

I just use a fluffy blanket under my quilt. Have done for years. My partner and daughter prefer bottles.

Neither, I am not 70yo for elelctric blanket.
And why eould you sleep with hot water bottle unless period or back pain!?
    It's weird to me.
Get a nice warm duvet, heating if needed.

Be aware that quality control in nowadays electric blankets is none to zero.
Just surf through Amazon and you will read (and see photos) of plenty of short-circuits and even a mattress set on fire. The concept is fine, I had a few in the last decades, but with today's quality (no matter if reputable brand or not, they are all the same with different brand tags) it doesn't worth the risk (edited)

It depends - if it's sitting in a chair watching TV a hot water bottle at my feet is nice. I recall using an electric underblanket back in the day (before automation was a thing) and it was a real chore to remember to turn it on. When you forget to turn on the electric blanket you can always use a hot water bottle for that instant heat hit!
I don't bother with either now as I have Alexa and can have every room set to 18C. I can boost the heat if needed (handy to have the heating turn on a good 15 minutes before the kids come home from school and leave the front door open - even if it's just a minute or two!)

I did get the kids those teddy bears filled with cherry stones that you heat in the microwave (much safer than an electric blanket or water filled hot water bottle - which I have seen split) and I also got a cherry stone filled scarf. It's nice to have that on my shoulders after a days work!

I use 2 5 tog duvets in winter . 1 under the bottom sheet and 1 over me . No heating in the bedroom and down to under 10C in a hard winter . Warm as toast ! The trick is the duvet under the bottom sheet !
