STEAM DECK OLED
All the things you love about Steam Deck, now with an OLED screen, better battery life, faster WiFi, and more.

Brighter colors, blacker blacks
Steam Deck’s HDR OLED display is designed from the ground up for gaming, with striking contrast, brilliant clarity, and a larger picture. With more colors, pure blacks, and amazing motion rendition, you’ll see your games in a new light.

More time to play
Steam Deck OLED has 30-50% more battery life. We fit a bigger battery into the case, and the OLED display draws less power. Add in an updated, more efficient AMD APU and you have way more time to play your favorites.

Faster downloads
Steam Deck OLED comes with Wifi 6E, offering increased bandwidth and lower latency. This means faster downloads (up to 3 times faster!) and stable online play.

Lighter, cooler
Thanks to a bigger fan and updated thermals, Steam Deck OLED runs cooler. It weighs 30g, or ~5% lighter than the LCD model, due to the screen.

All Steam Decks (both LCD and OLED) are powerful, portable, PC gaming devices made for comfort and a console-like experience.

Portability meets power
We partnered with AMD to create Steam Deck's custom APU, optimized for handheld gaming. It is a Zen 2 + RDNA 2 powerhouse, delivering more than enough performance to run the latest AAA games in a very efficient power envelope.
Your Steam Library, anywhere
Once you've logged into Steam Deck, your entire Steam Library shows up, just like any other PC. You'll also see the compatibility rating of each game, indicating the kind of experience you can expect when playing. You can dynamically filter any view in your library by compatibility rating if you're looking for specific sorts of experiences.

See verified games Check your library's compatibility
Control with comfort
The Steam Deck was built for extended play sessions—whether you're using thumbsticks or trackpads—with full-size controls positioned perfectly within your reach. The rear of the device is sculpted to comfortably fit a wide range of hand sizes.
Console-like experience
Steam Deck has a user-friendly interface specifically designed for its gamepad controls. Its software and operating system are tailored for Steam Deck, making it the easiest way to get into PC gaming.

    Some interesting tidbits:
    - larger battery
    - more power efficient
    - slightly larger screen in addition to being OLED
    - 2 piece case, the main case houses a smaller more portable case which can be used separately
    - 1TB version has anti-reflective coating which actually negates the benefits of an OLED (See Dave2ds review on YT), 512gb version recommended
    - 90hhz Panel!!

2 piece case only supplied with 1TB model.

Not a deal, this is RRP for a product that's not even available yet.
    McGoose's avatar
It’s good to make people aware so they don’t buy the old version or hold off and wait for bargains on the old version. It is actually a bargain in itself anyway compared to GPD etc..

So I really am at a mental impass, as I cannot decide between a PA5, Xbox X, or the OLED steam deck.

I have had a PS4 and Xbox 360 before, so I am not really a brand fan boy. I also have a small steam library and a knackered non-useable old gaming laptop.

I like the idea of being able to reuse my steam library, but also want to be able to try games like starfield.

My newest TV is on HD, so any PS5 and Xbox purchase would benefit from a new TV on top.

I like the idea of being able to game in different locations, but I am also unsure if that benefit is worth the performance loss....

    Thoughts?

P.S. buying more than one is not an option.

For me personally, I switched to PC for a couple of reasons. I love the flexibility of PC, I like having a game library that goes back decades, emulation means that almost every previous console generation is within reach, the only console exclusives now are on switch (which can be emulated) and on PS5 (which Sony is going to keep bringing to PC as they make a crazy amount of money), and in general PC games are cheaper (either from sales on Steam or elsewhere). Steam Deck is a PC with all those benefits and it's portable. This has been huge for me as once I got married I didn't have as much time to sit down and game. But on Steam Deck I can play for 10 minutes, suspend the game, and then pick it back up when I want. I have a decent gaming PC and have had multiple consoles. To me, this is the best device for gaming I have owned. (edited)

It's also likely to sell out immediately, so no different than the myriad of Xbox PS5 posts that appeared during the stock drought

Does it have the same processor as the previous one?
    IFRIT's avatar
Yes. Just on a smaller process so uses less power and produces less heat.

Is it even coming to the UK ? With 20% import duty I struggle to justify the cost, but balls I want one .. ☹️

Do Unsupported/Unverified steam games simply not play or there's a chance they might work?

Could be interested in one of these but I play some older racing games like GT Legends and GTR2 that are showing unsupported. Even Asseto Corsa isn't verified.

If those games work this could be a game changer for me but without them it'll kinda suck. (edited)
    Mark_Moorby's avatar
Most games will work. You can also download a custom version of proton called glorious eggroll (GE proton) which includes video encoders etc. that valve aren't allowed to use because of copyright or whatever

Ordered a 512gb one. Just to clarify, I can put up to a 1tb sad card and get alright results? What particular cards should I be looking for?
    daddybr00's avatar
Samsung Pro Plus or Sandisk Extreme Pro, performance of those is on par with the original steam deck SSDs (edited)
  10. ZeroTheGhostDog's avatar
Bought the original steam deck but rarely use it, although I am in the house most of the time so I don’t see the point in playing on it vs my 4090 gaming PC

Same as my switch OLED tbh. Idk why I keep buying these things. I have a problem. (edited)

I'm 99% sure it said delivery 3-5 working days at 6pm but now it's showing 6-10 working days.

Would anyone know if the new updated timeframe would be for all orders (6pm onwards) or for orders placed from this moment on?
    Nemo89's avatar
It did say it. I assume when placing if it said 3-5 days then thats the timeframe and if it was placed when it stated 6-10 days then that's the timeframe. first come first serve basically
  15. applefanboy25's avatar
I ordered mine 30 mins after it went live, just had an email from parcelforce saying delivery will be Thursday 23rd just to give people an idea of delivery times.
    Jay080286's avatar
Mine was before that! And it's still not been picked up from GLS 😿
  16. hotdealsuk1973's avatar
yeah am quite happy with my original steamdeck but i wouldn't be suprised to see regular updates now although a 2025 steam deck 2 is probably more on the cards than any other significant updates.

the better oled screen would be great but its not worth another 500 quid purchase for something i tend to use on the tv or inside.
    daddybr00's avatar
Valve said in an interview that the hardware isn't there to support a whole new generation handheld yet, hence why they have only put out a refresh. 2025 would be optimistic, anyone that is seriously considering one should just buy the OLED version and not try and anticipate Valve rushing out a new generation model. Even this refreshed version they said they started work on as soon as the Steam Deck went on sale and look how long it has taken to be released.
  17. DrexGodar's avatar
What's the main use case for this? do you actually game on the go, or do you use it at home?

Interesting from a hardware perspective, but as a PC gamer I don't get it. tbh
    AKG86's avatar
So I have a "gaming" PC in my office (I use gaming in the loosest terms as it won't play AAA games), this time of year I don't really want to sit in my office in the colder evenings. So I dock my Steam Deck to my 50" TV in the lounge to play, or I sit on the sofa and play games I don't mind being on a smaller screen in the evenings. I had a Switch before which I barely used. I use the Deck a lot now.
  18. crack_shot's avatar
I am super excited about this. Ran it by my child who had a very smart response. He said are you planning on playing it in 5 years- and are you okay with the screen burn at that point

    made me think.

Probably will still buy it because its the best piece of tech i have ever owned, and why not get another
    Rellik088's avatar
    What year is it?

Screen burn hasn't been a common OLED issue for years now.

Mine arrived by the Friday in the following week, managed to order mine within the first hour so was probably just lucky.
Setup was super smooth and everything worked first time.
For me this feels like a quality piece of kit (never tried the LCD version) and not had a problem with any sticking buttons etc. used for over 10 hours now.
Really impressed with what it can run without issues, definitely recommend you first try only those titles which are steam deck verified.
Only challenge so far was starting up GTA4 for the first time as it involves switching to desktop mode where accessing the keyboard is a challenge. I solved this by temporarily plugging into my laptop’s docking hub to use a keyboard & mouse.
So far played Dark Souls 1 & 2, Dead Space, Limbo, GTA4, Senua & Half Life.
Screen has reallly impressed me and the limited size & resolution doesn’t put me off but it’s taken a few hours to get used to.
Only annoyance has been finding a seating position that works as you have to crane your neck forward, but this is just me & age showing I guess.
    Really pleased so far.
Got a little two year old and only get the odd 15 minutes to game, SD is perfect for me. Boots up in around 20 seconds, and ready to game in under a minute.
    SpacedMonkey's avatar
I tend to play with it resting on a cushion on my lap. Helps reduce neck pain from hunching over and also keeps the SD in a more upright position which I find helps me with gyro aim.
  26. MadMax14's avatar
Aaargh to buy with anti-glare or non anti-glare? as they said to take advantage of the true/pop colours of OLED it must be without anti-glare? which one are you going for?
    rufioh's avatar
512GB for me (I'll be moving my 2TB SSD to it anyway). Was glad that Dave2D's review confirmed my suspicion that the matte screen undermines the OLED. Hopefully the 50% brighter screen is enough to overcome reflections anyway.

EDIT: Taki Udon said the LCD Deck is 550 nits, I thought I’d read it was 400 nits. So my claim of 50% brighter screen may not be true (for SDR). (edited)

Until she refuses to give you it back when she finds out it will play all her favourite retro games
  28. rfx321's avatar
    Received it! It's a beauty

Comes with almost full battery charge, so no need to charge it before powering on. More than enough to power through the two updates (Steam, then Firmware) it needed to do.

Seems Parcelforce is delivering the first batch today, so happy Steam Deck OLED delivery day to everyone

For those still in Packaged purgatory awaiting pickup, GLS is using a 2day service to the UK (International Flex), so once it's been picked up by GLS, Parcelforce (or Evri) should have it after 2 days so keep an eye out on that tracking as the GLS tracking won't update any further after pick-up. Good luck!

I think the standards are applied differently depending on who you are. I had a ROG Ally listing with an early link to preorder taken down by moderators because it was MSRP.

Thinking of selling series x as hardly play for this. Is it worth it ?

Possibly a stupid question but if I buy an oled steam deck from steam does it come from America?

So I’d have to pay import duty etc and it would come with an American plug?
    hotdealsuk1973's avatar
it will come from the netherlands no import duty is payed by you it will take around a week though or more to be delivered

it comes with a uk plug
    hope that helps

Ps5 or steam deck? Never pc gamed before.
    PS5's avatar
PS5 vs handheld are two different things entirely. You need to weigh up which you would use more and why.
And that is the tip of the iceberg...
  37. EugeneVictorTooms's avatar

  40. hotdealsuk1973's avatar
so there was no need for a mad rush they seem to have plenty of stock now
    ZeroTheGhostDog's avatar
Why would it have the same stock issue? You’re comparing a time when nobody had a steam deck vs when most people who want one have one and now there’s a newer variant out (so nowhere near as much demand) (edited)
