They are called a firework bulb
From what I can make it out its not really suitable for reading, it's no good for decent background lighting. So what are people using it for, is it purely a showpiece as I would not want something like this in any of my living areas taking the place of a decent table lamp, it would probably be bedroom / office / movie room where we already have mood lighting that can be adjusted to different brightness levels.
Is it best to use a standard E14 LED bulb, or go for a colour changing one?
I used a standard E14 for mine and this is what it looks like on my fire place. Hope this helps (edited)
