In the last year or so, I've tested these budget ANC headphones: Soundcore Q20 (original), Q30, Q45, SoundPEATS A6, Baseus Bowie H1i, Tronsmart Apollo Q10. Even MPOW 059 Pro (not ANC, sent those back...)

Comparison to the Anker Soundcore Q30 (Q45 briefly mentioned, too):

There are Hotukdeals-specific Aliexpress codes (and others, here) but they don't meet the minimum's total (circa £40 spend).

Bought QCY H3 in September 2023 (when just-released) and think they're fantastic for the price. Great sound, ANC, even the build quality is a bit better than the Tronsmart Apollo Q10 I loved so much (replaced those a few times!). Downer is the battery life with ANC on (35 hours = ANC On, 60 hours = ANC off) but you can still use them when charging (eg, with USB-C to USB-A cable connected to your computer). Two-device Multipoint, as well.

On desktop, the total comes to £29.38 delivered:

How does this compare to the Soundcore Q30?
    louiselouise's avatar
    Author
The battery for the Soundcore Q30 is rated as slightly better by about 5 hours (with ANC on) but I think the QCY H3 sound a bit better (again, tweak EQ in the QCY app first) and have stronger ANC. Far better Ambient / Transparency mode with the QCY. I was using the Q30 for a while after my Tronsmart broke.

If the QCY's battery life was as good as the Tronsmart they would be perfect, but being able to use the QCY wired, and also whilst charging, makes up for it. (Q45 allows you to use them wired with a 3.5mm jack cable which I seem to have lost!).

I'd even push the boat out and say they hold up well against the Soundcore Q45 (the Q45 doesn't have multi-point?? (actually, the Q45 does, see below) for some reason, yet they're more expensive than models in the Soundcore range that do - Q45 do support LDAC - which the Q30 and H3 don't). Think the QCY H3 feel a bit more comfortable than the Q45 when worn for extended periods.

Multi-point (two devices, same as the Soundcore Q30) is one of those minor features you don't realise you needed till you start using it.

The QCY also has a low-latency mode (double-press the MFB button), but I'm not a gamer (these days) so can't comment.

The ANC is very adjustable in the QCY app: Indoors, Outdoors, Commuting and Anti-Wind (not flatulence!) and can be tweaked further, via a slider, low-high.

The QCY H3 can be folded, just like most over ears these days. There's even a "Find Headset" function in the app (think it's GPS, haven't actually set up the QCY on my new phone - I should test it!).

Here's what the QCY app looks like, shows (some) EQ settings, ANC settings and other functions:51940035-6AQgm.jpgNo LDAC, or aptX compatibility with the QCY H3, though. Supports AAC and SBC codecs, same as the Soundcore Q30.

** edit: I can't get Multi-point to work well on the Q45, compared to the QCY, which is why I thought it didn't have it. Reddit says it does, but it's poorly-implemented and I agree! Soundcore Space Q45 headphones bluetooth dual-connect not working. : anker (reddit.com) **
Another edit: The Q45's 'flakey' Multi-Point can be sorted out if you turn LDAC off - mentioned here (edited)

How do these compare to the Tronsmart Apollo Q10?
    louiselouise's avatar

Just my opinion (and I love, love, love/d the Tronsmart, so much so I replaced them a few times):

    - I'm one of those weirdos that likes touch controls (Apollo Q10) - the QCY H3 has buttons - not a dealbreaker, though
    - Apollo Q10 were rated at 100 hours (ANC off) and the Q10 battery seemed to last forever - the QCY H3 are about half the capacity - but you can use H3 wired (wired is the only way you can listen Hi-Res) - charging time for the H3 is 2 hours / 500mAh battery - Apollo Q10 1200mAh!
    - I'd say these are as comfortable as the Apollo Q10, though I'm female and don't have a big head (some may beg to differ!). I wear glasses as well
    - The QCY H3 definitely gets louder (some reviewers complained that the Apollo Q10 didn't get quite loud enough for them) and I think the H3 has slightly better mids and bass (imo)
    - H3's Transparency and ANC are that bit better than the Tronsmart
    - The microphone, unless there's been a recent QCY app / firmware update (I'm currently going between the QCY H3 and Soundcore Q45 - which I'm wearing right now), is just average but nobody moans when I phone them...!
    - The Tronsmart Apollo Q10 Bluetooth chipset is QCC5124 according to Tronsmart / though some reviewers say it's the BES2300 (BES2300 is the same as Soundcore Q30 - don't really understand chipsets, so this is going by Google!) - not sure about the QCY

The Tronsmart Apollo Q10 has a few clones: one being the Rolfstone Focus (though there are very slight differences, eg, the Rolfstone has a hard case, sound signature is slightly different between them but you can use the Tronsmart app with the Rolfstone):
The 233621 Hush headphones look identical to the Tronsmart Apollo Q10 but rebadged as well, and were a silly price on Aliexpress for some reason! It was a while ago, but I got the Tronsmart for around the same price as the QCY is now. (edited)

Hi , I have ordered these headphones just before going on holidays, they are the 1st ANC/over-ear headphones I have and my choice was mainly based after your recommendations, I am amazed by how great they are! They completely transformed my flight experience, when I had to remove them I felt I was in a hurricane. They are really confortable and sound quality is great too. I was very surprised by the low latency when game mode was activated, I was prepared to plug them with aux. cable but finally I didn't have to.

I wasn't ready to put more than £50 for headphones, I'm even less ready now, I don't understand why people pay more unless they're professionals. I've seen tons of reviews about £100 Sony and Soundcore headphones but people complain a lot about them.

As for flagship headphones, maybe I should try them to figure out how better they are.

Glad you like them, don't even know what my brother thinks (his QCY H3 arrived a fortnight ago - but he's very busy, good reminder to ask).

As an insomniac who finds it hard to relax, they help when I want to take a nap (even been known to take short snoozes in public - in company, of course). When travelling they dampen noises down, more low frequency stuff - like the sounds of engines or low volume chatter.

My ANC headphone testing 'experience' (for what it is) is on the budget end - so I can't compare, say, the XM4 or XM5. AKG N700NC were maybe more premium (when they were released) but they're probably old hat now, being a few years old.

I'd say the QCY has the best sound cancelling out of the lot (that I've tried) and the technology is getting better even at the budget end. (edited)

Had a QCY (Android) Play Store update today waiting for me, not sure what the tweaks will be though - best using the app for the best sound quality possible.

Asked my brother what he thought of the H3 and he said 'great'. I asked if he set an EQ in the app and he said he hasn't installed it! Things like that really niggle me but they're his headphones

Amazon US has reviews as well: amazon.com/QCY…ews

Can't see them for sale on Amazon UK. QCY are better known for their TWS earbuds.

Same as with Soundcore and a few other recent Bluetooth Headphones, you can improve the sound by using the EQ in the QCY app. (edited)

This Polish* Youtuber reckons you can boost the Bass even more in Windows - not tried this, though. (At 7:24).

He compares the sound quality to the Takstar 82 Pro (not familiar with them).

At 9:07 he also says, that via Windows / via Bluetooth, the H3 is only available in two modes - headphone or headset. That when in headset mode (playing games) the microphone is compromised wirelessly and it's best to play games via USB-C cable. Haven't tried these headphones in 'headset' mode, so can't comment.

'Bluetooth 5.4' is also mentioned liberally but the instruction manual says 5.3 - it's either an error or newer batches are 5.4 (doubtful, though).
*Says 'Poland' in his profile, anyway (edited)

Just discovered this thread after making a search regarding these headphones as I’m (im)patiently waiting for them to come. I luckily managed to order them for £22.69 when they appeared for £18.91 under “SuperDeals” on the AliExpress app.

I already have the Haylou S35 which are awesome headphones, which I ordered for £44.60 from AliExpress. I’m hoping the H3 sound and feel similar.

Those were the two I was flip-flopping over as they're similar prices. Not sure what convinced me to buy the QCY in the end back in September, think I was swayed by their great TWS earbuds' reputation. That and the QCY H3 are a bit newer.

I got mine last Saturday. I think they are really good. Noise cancelling is definitely better than my Huawei freebuds pro version 1, which is crazy and shows how technology advances so fast and becomes cheaper.

It's a pity it doesn't have some sort of aptx codec, as video and sound is definitely out of sync but turning on gaming mode on the qcy app helps mitigate the issue.

A new-ish release is the QCY H3 Lite - not sure what these are like as they seem to have appeared on Aliexpress in the last week or two.

Which - bizarrely - seem more expensive than their descendant! Probably because they're new? (Differences below).
QCY H3 Lite ANC Wireless Headphones Bluetooth 5.3 Active Noise Cancelling Over Ear Headset 40mm Driver HiFi Sound Earphones - AliExpress (there's a few stores selling these, some slightly cheaper).

Says it has an 'upgraded transparency mode' - I think the QCY H3 has pretty good transparency already (judging against a few Soundcore ANC over ears I've had and my beloved Tronsmart Apollo Q10!)52730741-b2Ppt.jpg52730741-k1HYv.jpg- QCY H3 has 500mAh battery versus QCY H3 Lite's 400mAh
(Interestingly, the H3's specs list says - Playback time: approx. 60/35hr (ANC OFF / ON) whereas the H3 Lite says 60/50hr (ANC OFF / ON)).
The H3 having a much shorter battery life with ANC enabled came up in a few reviews - which suggests there's been efficiency improvements with the Lite.

    - QCY H3 has rated ANC at -43dB versus QCY H3 Lite's -28dB

    - QCY H3 has (wired) Hi-Res audio capability. QCY H3 Lite doesn't have it. (Says Hi-Res Video - must be a typo!)

    - Upgraded Transparency Mode is mentioned for the newer H3 Lite - we'll have to see what reviews say (I think the H3's transparency is excellent anyway, much better than the Soundcore Q30, Q45 and Tronsmart Apollo Q10).

I expressed my doubts before that QCY H3 has Bluetooth V5.4, but the manufacturer's promo images state it above. Who knows! (edited)
