A few more days into having the laptop so just a brief bit of extra thoughts...

Not cons, but food for thoughts...

    - Battery off power supply really is not great, even when on power saving etc. Now, you should absolutely expect this for any gaming machine, but do consider this if battery life is a concern of yours. The power supply is a big chonky thing... so have a think about a USB C charger possibly (but consider you'll need minimum power ratings)

    - It gets rather hot, and rather quickly, even playing low range games. Again, no surprise, but something to consider

    - I'm realising I definitely need to upgrade the RAM and my storage options quickly. Again, the price considered with the 20% off is unbeatable really, but I'd certainly be factoring in another chunk of cash to go up to 32GB RAM and another 512GB or 1TB SSD for game and app storage. Multi tasking gets a bit sluggish at times, certainly with a couple of apps open and some background processes, so the additional RAM should help with that

    The pros
    - Screen is still lovely, really enjoying the quality of that. It's got a lovely colour range and even though only 1080p, rivals my 4k Sony through my eyes

    - Track pad and keyboard are great. Great for extended use

    - I've had no issues so far playing any game I've put on it...

    - HOWEVER...I also have a PS5 and Series X...Am I getting that much better performance to justify £700 odd if my only real pull was gaming? No, so again, consider this if you're expecting this to blow away your current gen console as in my opinion this won't deliver that. Again, no surprise, it's an entry level 4060 laptop (edited)

If you aren't already, then switching to performance mode using FN+Q (until the power LED turns red) should help with thermals a bit as it will give you full fan speed, also help with performance since the CPU will run at a higher clock.

    Blue power light: Quiet mode
    White power light: Balanced
    Red power light: Performance

Sorry for a second question, but I'm struggling to find the power supply on the GPU. I know this is a common way to cut corners with cheaper gaming laptops. I think it's 115W, and the sales blurb says it's "fully powered" but that's just marketing speak. Can anyone confirm those numbers and comment on whether it'll affect performance? (edited)
    Fizzer's avatar
115W is a full powered 4060, it's a very efficient card. You can the expect same performance as the desktop model more or less.

It's basically on par with the desktop variant since it's runs so cool and efficient they can put it in a laptop.

I'd go for this if I hadn't just bought a PC with 6750 XT. (edited)

Mine arrived today so just some quick first impressions…

    - Looks and feels really premium, really nice keyboard and trackpad with clickable buttons

    - Screen is incredible

    - Audio is nice and loud, great clarity too

    - Battery life off charger is poor, but to be expected with a gaming laptop. Just browsing and installing updates etc and I went from 100-10% in about an hour and 15 minutes…

    - Charging time however is RAPID. 10% to 100% in about 45 minutes or so

    - Charger itself is massive. Costly to get a spare if you want it setup in a couple of places (£60-80 even 3rd party)

    - Runs nice and cool when gaming

    - Fans are nice and quiet

    - Comes with 3 months game pass

I’ll update the more I use it this weekend

If you're using it connected to the power most of the time, I would turn on conservation mode in the Vantage settings, you're battery will stay healthier much longer this way, it stops it charging after a certain point to prevent wear and tear on the battery.

And whilst I'm mentioning Vantage, I'd recommend not even using that, there is something that does what Vantage does but does it much better. Legion Toolkit it's called, here's a link:

People have had it track, but they've been hit and miss with me for not paying out when you've used discount codes when purchasing so may not be a definitive payout (edited)

This morning I wasn't planning to buy a computer

Cracking deal! 679 Quid for 4060 laptop.. Thanks OP (edited)
  9. ryiah's avatar
Thanks for posting, been looking for an RTX 4060 laptop for a while but couldn’t decide on one.
This one has blown the others out the water due to the price! Thank you!!
  10. plewis00's avatar
Pretty good price all round for the spec and RTX 4060 too, nice to see a bright display included. Not a fan of Very but if they deliver it without issue, you should be ok - probably various credit promo codes you can use as well.

I know this is a lot of laptop for the money, but please be aware there is an issue if you plan to use this with a dock… the laptop has one usbc port and will not charge via usbc from the dock. This seems to be a problem with all docks including the compatible Lenovo dock. Lenovo support simply tell me they don’t support peripherals despite it being a Lenovo dock!!! It’s a well documented issue on their support forums, and I can personally verify the issue and tried all sorts of combinations of cables, chargers and docks to overcome it with no luck.
    DM24's avatar
How have you found the laptop, dock issue aside?
  12. Fizzer's avatar
Also I'm pretty sure these Lenovo gaming laptops come with a 3 month subscription to Game Pass, mine did.
  13. Fizzer's avatar
This is a really good price for a 4060 laptop, usually they're £1000+
  14. LeFear's avatar
Damn the display has G-Sync as well according to Lenovo website psref.lenovo.com/Det…0UK

    Great deal, thanks OP

I went through TCB just to see if anything would track and even after using the 20% off code on credit, I have £38.48 pending. Really hope it gets confirmed!
  16. taikonautzero's avatar
I'd say this has the performance edge; ~20% faster cpu, similar performance gpu but this has better thermals.
I doubt there's much in it in practive but idk, others here probably know far more than I do.
Given a choice I'd go for this one over the ASUS personally.
  17. LewisJ29's avatar
Took the plunge. Been considering a gaming laptop for ages and looks like a great deal with the 20% off and TCB.

    Thanks OP.

If the computer doesn’t need to be a handheld for you then I’d say get a gaming laptop instead as it will be drastically more powerful.
  19. HotOrNotYouDecide's avatar
How does this compare to a Steam Deck for playing games or is it like comparing apples to oranges? Thanks in advance.
    DM24's avatar
Far better compatibility and performance... but its obviously nowhere near as user friendly/portable as a steam deck from a strictly gaming perspective
  20. oscarfs's avatar
Thanks guys. I've been umming and erring for a little bit regarding which laptop to get. Specs for the price are really good here and I've got £45 tracked using Quidco to boot.
    Fizzer's avatar
Yeah I don't think you can get better than this!

Is Very a trustworthy company, as I don’t want to receive a bunch of tiles instead of a laptop and can’t get a refund
    Fizzer's avatar
    Yes, very much so.

I bought my last laptop from there, and the first one I had to return because it kept crashing with blue screen of death, Absolutely no fuss within the 28 days.
  22. JohnHuang's avatar
Does any know which delivery company they use for this type of items?
    RyanDawson's avatar
Mines coming today, sent via Royal Mail.

    Panel is a BOE NV156FHM-NX3

Slight IPS bleed from the bottom of the screen when dark but nothing to complain about. I had previously bought the ASUS Vivobook and returned that as the screen was complete trash compared to this. I'll update that thread when I get my refund.

    Good panel.

If anyone is interested it seems to use a 40pin DP connector so you could upgrade the screen to a higher res one in the future if you wanted. (I think, I'm not sure if the panels are locked to the machine - i dont know much about these kind of laptops) (edited)
    DM24's avatar
My panel is pretty spot on to be honest, I’ve not noticed any bleed at all, maybe I’ve just got a lucky one
  24. Ve33iE's avatar
I ordered mine yesterday after looking for a new laptop for myself from 4th gen i7 and nvidia 860m
    Fizzer's avatar
Very nice upgrade! I just upgraded from a 3050 T laptop and got a PC with a 6750 XT, otherwise I'd have got this deffo (edited)
  25. MarcD's avatar
Just checked a few bits out. I'll be using this for gaming AND Photoshop/Premiere Pro etc. So will be upgrading the panel. Spotted a 2560x1440 on eBay for £62 ...still an overall bargain imo (even more so if TCB works) and a straight forward upgrade too. Thanks to OP

How long did it take for your cashback to show as pending?
I have just ordered one, and it was my first time using Quidco, nothing showing in my account yet. I did click through on Quidco so it should have tracked it!
  29. Fizzer's avatar
No way, they're back in stock!

Do i sell my Dell (i7-12700H, RTX 3060) and get this...
    JohnHuang's avatar
Don't buy it because it's a good deal. If you already have something that works then I would walk away
  31. lacom's avatar
What do you think would B156ZAN05.1 screen work with this laptop?
4k mini led screen would be better than full HD one.
Would be happy with QHD but don't see mini led version with that resolution (edited)
  32. Fizzer's avatar
You would have to check the connector, if it is the same pin it should work.
