Can't wait for my contract to end with virgin. Their customer service is terrible and what was agreed with them doesn't always appear on the account. They also want to charge a crazy amount to end the contract. Not voting cold but be aware of their reputation.

Agree. Had to fight for a discount they honoured at the beginning of my contract to appear on my monthly bill

Slightly better deal of you go directly though Topcashback, £50 bill credit and £57 cashback

Is it the awful and old Hub 3 that is supplied for this deal?

Another virgin broken link again 🤷 (edited)

I have sign up to Virgin last week on 500 plan and I can confirm they have sent me Hub 3, I am going to call them and try get hub 5 if they say no, I will leave them, can’t believe they still sending hub 3 which is from 2017

Can I cancel my contract with virgin when/before they put the prices up in April?
    simba2585's avatar
Yes but you will have you buy yourself out of the contract. You could get lucky with an offer from sky as in the past they have offered to buy out customers themselves from existing contracts to switch with them.

I've just agreed a deal for 500mbps volt broadband with a basic 02 sim 4gb Internet unlimited calls and texts (free wifi pods and streaming box included too) for £33 a month, I'm thinking is it worth cancelling for this as I'm still in the 14 day period as my contract ended and agreed that as new one or just stick with it

What's irritating me is I'm stuck with the old Super Hub 3 and it's rubbish I want the 5 with WiFi 6

I was about to join Vodafone but Virgin matched the offer and they sent me their new WiFi 6 hub they haven't asked back for, was wondering if i could use that instead of the superhub 3

There was a process to follow to assign replacement hubs which required making a call to virgins CS. Not sure if that is still the case. You can get cheap mesh and put it hub in modem mode - far better and more reliable solution. (edited)

Its a good deal, to start with, but they make you pay later on, rise in April 2025, and then wait till contract ends , then you will have to work for any discount .
    matman050988's avatar
If by work. You mean a quick 10 min phone call telling them you are leaving. Then yeah.
  7. onamission100's avatar
Sorry, link doesn't appear to be working

Cracking deal - I'm currently paying something similar for M350 with volt, which is obviously due to go up by 8.8% so I will be paying more. Shame I can't just renew the contract via a deal like this!
  9. okm's avatar
Virgin will make you pay later on. Some do get good deals others won't regardless what you do. I'm on m350 volt at £39 a month up by £3.43 from April. After contract pricing is ridiculous over £57 a month. Guess luck of draw.

    Freezing cold.

Abysmal company, even worse when you try to leave.

Unless you're one of the very few that have an actual FTTP connection with Virgin, then they are by far the worst network when it comes to reliability and gaming.

They use war-era tech delivered through coaxial for most homes and it just isn't up to scratch. The speed is irrelevant when packet loss is through the roof and downtime is frequent.

Recently had CityFibre installed and it's magnificent. £30 a month for 1gbps symmetrical and it's crazy how much better it is.

FWIW I ditched virgin 1gb for BT and their basic 80mbps FTTC and it was significantly better than virgin in every way. Gaming was usable again, as was streaming. The only downside was speed (or lack of).

Oh and no price rises through CF, where as Virgin are more than happy to add £10 pm on each year. (edited)

Calling DOCSIS war era tech isn't really correct. It's been continually updated throughout the years and it's got some advantages over ethernet that FTTP uses.

That said the issue with Virgin is poor backhaul connections and oversubscription. Openreach FTTP has super low contention rates and so does City fibre in some areas

Such a cold deal, just go with community fibre if you're in the London area, was able to get 1gbps for £25 from them.

How nice for you but believe it or not there is life outside of London

I was told by outbound retentions £35 a month was the best they could do on this, luckily within my 14 days so will be cancelling if they don't match it.

"No pay rise in 2024"... You won't raise the price 2 weeks after I sign the contract up. Thanks very much xD

My current deal ends mid April. Can I still go for this?

TCB Classic is showing as £72.25 for M500
  16. Jack_79's avatar
Cold sorry . they could offer it to me ( long serving customer BTW ) for £20 a month and I would decline... Better offers out there with newer providers...
    Ilykthings's avatar
If you're lucky enough to have access to alternative fibre cables, a lot of people are stuck with VM for higher speeds.
  17. woodface7's avatar
Anyone had a look at the offer onsite who can tell me if the M500 is the only speed offered on the deal? We only need M125 and never pay £33 or £27.45 for our broadband.

Terrible company. Tried to cancel a contract for 2 years and they repeatedly lied to me and wouldn't let me cancel. I wouldn't go near them again.

left this lot in january, best thing i ever did, different bill every month just made my life hell, they think you will give up ringing cs, but i didnt until i left, keep forgeting what they agreed contractually with you, you think they would have pc's for this, no they have a monkey with an abacus

Does anyone have any ideas on the best fibre broadband, im with virgin atm, but the speed is not what it is supposed to be, tried to speak with them, they are useless !! i work from home so need fast fibre, any suggestions would be appreciated for cheapest fast fibre. thanks guys

Last few months been rubbish. Raised a complaint. Want to leave penalty free.

City fibre not available to me. Only open reach. But providers don't have symmetrical speeds whcih is the downside.

My last contract with them I had was £16 a month. April came and they increased the price by 50%. No letters sent for price increase and no option to opt out. After spending hours they said a letter was sent. Made a complaint, got a call back and guy hung up after 1 sec. Received a letter they tried contacting me. Letter had an email that don't exist. Gave up at then end. Left them. Will never go back to virgin even if it was free. (edited)

Quick question regarding cashback and renewal. Looking at the terms on uSwitch they will not pay cashback if you are upgrading contract that finished or you are an existing Virgin customer.
So is everyone here new to Virgin in order to claim cashback?
My contract ends at the end of March. How do I get a new deal? I'm looking for faster speed (currently on M125) and for similar price. Do I have to wait until contract finishes at the end of the month before looking at renewals?

The only way is to leave and get someone else to sign up for it in their name instead of yours. It's common trick to swap names every 18-24 months with the partner. That way you are always joining as a new customer (edited)

Hold on and always a good deal , I pay £65 for full package no tnt though but cheap for everything

They offered me 1 gig + mix tv for £37. No bill credit etc. How is this offer?
    Jonwillis's avatar
If it helps, I'm on similar but £33 given April price rise, due to renew in October.
