Chili is awful on my Panasonic. HD is worse then SD, pretty much unwatchable. My wife has £10 credit from NHS offer and we havent bothered using it. I think the problem is they've switched to a more efficient streaming but haven't updated all their apps. So the ones that havent been updated get an awful bitrate. Getting a Fire Stick soon and hoping its better.

Yes! So much better than Chili

Yes, they do need to be taught basic manners. Please and thank you go a long way. :)

They then need to be taught some basic manners in how to say please & thank you.

At least you were polite and said 'please' though. Most don't. (annoyed)

Thankyou have gone for this, fed up of O2, they charged me £900 for calls when I went over my minutes when my mum had passed away....so Thankyou and good riddance to O2 (y) 🏽

How good they are for honouring cashback, what if they go into administration?

11 months ago I was paying £20 for 50mb of which I cannot tell the difference . Will cancel and try for closer to £20.

Was paying £47 for 200mb which I also do not need, can still stream 4k on Netflix, Prime, YouTube which is 99% of my usage.

Essential items generally hold value in a recession, the biggest price drops are luxury. A mobile phone/TV are not seen as luxuries more hardware ‘utility’ these days. At the moment due to Covid they are selling much lower prices holding up conglomerate companies sales, when a recession hits income luxuries go, we are in airbag mode recession with furlough scheme already, the balance just now is people can spend on essentials, when gov support ends and redundancies hit they can’t (Universal Credit can’t even buy a NHS healthy diet if you have creditors to pay.) but everyone else will still buy essentials in a recession. Companies now are taking a hit on margins and clearing warehouses, keeping some revenue up as not to damage the financial year/share price & hopefully end up breaking even. Planning. Once ‘essentials‘ pre recession stock levels/warehouses are cleared prices will revert upwards - and as production slows. Now is the time to mobile/tv up. When you open lockdown you open up mass consumerism, expect sales from those fighting for survival, those well run with resilience will price essentials at market prices not sales unless they themselves have excess non sale-or-return. A recession always hits the poorest/bad money handling the worst, I’m prepared years ago, because I’ve seen several recessions in my life & watched company/human behaviour. Recessions feed the wealthy & those good at handling/saving money by taking from the poorest.

WHAAATTTTTT !!!!???? DO NOT BUY NOW , WAIT do you even know what you are saying???? Buy now because there is a recession coming, NO , WAIT until we are in the recession , the prices will come down or are you suggesting they will increase during a recession. Sales will plummet companies will lower prices to make products more affordable, thus cheaper for everyone :)

Large purchases will fall, everyday essential purchases like mobiles will rise, people prioritise now esp when Lockdown is ‘over’ and furlough fully ends the Oct. There will be more demand later which equals $upply. If you have the cash to prioritise a good new mobile deal now do it. Buy mobiles/TVs etc now they are trying to shift them knowing a recession is coming/tech divisions holding parent companies up, cars/houses etc later as prices come down, we are already in a recession - a furlough tax one, when that ends the companies and thus ‘luxury’ sales suffer, essiential sales much less so.

Given Threes high 5G spectrum allocation when it’s rolled out the other networks will look like Plusnet, the poor ugly EE sister. We just have to be more patient now Covid has delayed its 5G rollout for manpower building up 4G capacity pipes to base stations ;) BT Wholesale no longer have the monopoly on MBNL backhaul so Three can plough Virgin/CityFibre or another host of suppliers pipes to their base station transmitters. It’s a pain this delayed rollout that was behind already but nearly everything is Covid delayed these days.

Wish that was on three😄

Would this or the Mate 20 Pro be better (overall and for photos?). Given the Mate 20 Pro is about £70 more, is it worth the extra? Thanks!

I was on EE and they unlocked it for free.

Keep checking they'll keep coming back in stock, Vodafone free to unlock after 30 days so if you're on voda/voxi fine otherwise just get a free voda PAYG sim, no need to top it up I'd probably just phone it up and phone from it to a service number so it's actually been used then after 30 days you can fill out an online form and they'll unlock for free. Edit....there you go there's 2 X EE ones in stock now !

How much is it to unlock these? Easy to do or do you need to contact the network? Edit. Nevermind, all gone at that price.

Are there any other android phones around this price point or upto say £200 with a front mounted fingerprint sensor? Looking to upgrade my parents one and they'd still find the front one more useful I think.

Yup agree this is a great phone. TBH I think we've truly hit peak smartphone. £200 or thereabouts (e.g. Redmi 9S) will get you 90% of what you get from a £1000 flagship, in fact re. a large battery and a headphone socket, it actually gets you more!!

I've had this phone for close to two years now, still runs fantastically. Fast charging is excellent and the battery life is also great! Camera is impressive too. Can't say I've ever had any issues with the 4G

Fair enough. Not had those issues and don't play games on my phone so fine for me! :)

It's Vodafone by the way, unless this is a company in China

I think you're reading into my brief message about an issue that can have many factors as stating within your reply. I agree with your statements as I'm familiar with the IT sector and can tell you I did many test and went far as to analyze the packet captures and found varies issues but it's not consistent for me to flag Vodafone as a bad ISP as Sky has been good for to me but I know it's not been the best experience for others however both run on openreach it just depends how ISP's manage their traffic. WiFi did not come into the equation as it will never be as accurate as using a wired connection. Overall for me it has not been stable and Vodafone themselves have acknowledged the issue.

If you get a lower connection speed with another router then that isn’t Vodafone’s fault. If it’s the sync rate you’re referring to then it would be the same with any FTTC/VDSL ISP because they all use the same Openreach equipment at the other end. For the same reason, connection stability won’t be any different between ISPs (with the same router). If you’re talking about actual throughput then that’s a different story and will vary between ISPs for many reasons. Your local environment can drastically affect speeds obtained via WiFi and some routers will be better than others in this respect.

I'm with Vodafone, I can tell you now the connection hasn't been stable for me as with the previous ISP. The guarantee speed is flawed as when you use the Vodafone router it reads 60+ mbs when you use your own router (Draytek) it's around 52 mbs with no QOS or firewall rules set up on the bright side they do let you use your own router.

I’m having Vodafone broadband (but business) activated tomorrow and I’m wondering what I have got myself into.... I’m actually getting a second line activated the following day too thanks to a monumentally fricked up ordering process

Holy cow and I thought my 150mbps in London was good. You win the 4G speed challenge. Congrats. Totally jealous even that upload speed.

Be careful - deals probably end tonight (end of the financial quarter) - Quidco has ends in 4 hours against a similar deal. I can only see Fonehouse 50p a month cheaper, but they also have 100GB for the same £8! Choices! If it was £48 in around £300 I would go with Fonehouse, if £12 mobiles.co.uk.

I know that... And when i did that test i was out in high street. Here u go without wifi with highest speed i got on Vodafone

The connection shows multi which means both WiFi and mobile data where used at the same time. Look up wi-fi assist. Both iPhones and Android phones can do this.

Same issue here. 3 days up now so just put in a claim on Quidco. That will probably take ages by which time the service will be up and running. Annoying as I cleared cookies etc as usual. It just didn't track.

Joined Vodafone at the start of the month from talk talk. The service was absolutely abysmal, I gave it 10 days but no improvement, we was getting less than 2mbs ( Supposed to get 70mbs). Switched to BT and worked straight away at full speed.

Its really a good deal. I got this myself and everything is in order. I have updated all 5 cashback dates on calendar reminders with rest of cashback from other sites. Usually cashback submission is approx 3 minutes job.

Cheers op. Ordered earlier this evening after 17:00, had an email 1-2 hrs later to say all dispatched and on it's way by 1st class post. Email confirmed it's £20/month with £294 cashback over the 2 years, so effective price of £7.75 assuming all cashback pays out over the contract, and they don't go bust... I wanted a 5G SIM to use in a Galaxy Note 10+ 5G i have coming, and also it's got 100Gb of data, so i'm chuffed.

Strange given Covid Vodafone will deliver to any address as long as you pass the card address check.

Limited unlimited! There is a term for that!

Thanks! We all think differently. Pointed out that it maybe an error in the 24 Month freebie but even if it is 12 months, still works out @£14 per month for unlimited data. Of course your only saving if you are already subscribed to any of the freebie deals and can cancel. Not if your taking the deal for the freebie. Wood for the trees and all that!

As much as I can agree with you, this is the current situation. Security updates patches are provided by Google and manufacturers as well I suppose. Huawei might offer some security or not,or to some they are scary spies. Probably most people and average Joe's don't even know or care about software updates and security patches or Android versions.. I think that the only way to persuade these companies to do more..is to buy less. No point for me discussing about the ban and politics, whose fault is etc, I just think that as long as people understand what they are about to buy and what do they actually get, then it's up to them eventually to decide how their money should be spent. Personally I've never had problems about software and security, due to my technical mindset and background, but others might just approach differently their purchases based on different needs and abilities. We can discuss philosophically about fairness and how things should be, but then we are just seen half of the problem, which is what others should do and don't; the other half is the same, being us the ones not taking action...so, each decision depends on different circumstances, as well here about how much is worth the risk about buying this device, knowing everything we already know about it...

I think it is (mad) ridiculous that folk accept paying £500 (maybe north of £1000 in some mad cases) for a phone that does not get security updates for at least 3 or 4 years! Bit like buying a car & finding that the manufacturer stops making available the break pads after a few years! Any internet connection device (where connecting to the Internet is a primary function) should really have security updates for 4 to 5 years. We have become too accepting of companies relying on our willingness to buy at higher prices & far too regularly.
