I am unsure what the verdict on this whole mid-contract price rise debacle is but VM are the WORST for it. If this still happens I would avoid VM just because the deal will be taken away by a price-rise in your contract and you're left having to phone them to either cancel or tell them to act like a decent company and honor the contract until it ends.

I left them when I moved as I had to and can't believe I am with an ISP that does not try to increase the amount I pay before my contract is over.

Everytime I had a mid-contract price rise with VM I would say on the phone to them: "If I called you and said I don't fancy paying £30 a month anymore and I will be paying £25 instead for the remainder of my contract with you then you'd cut me off. Yet to seem to think it's fine to do it the other way around."

I know the call centre staff are just the messengers in that situation but thankfully they agree and I always just carried on paying the same amount.

The fact they literally can't honour contracts they themselves wrote and you signed is beyond a joke.

I never really found much issue with the service itself but the company and the way they operate are basically the comcast of the UK. (edited)

Most broadband companies and mobile companies increase their prices mid-contract by inflation + x% - with Virgin you used to be able to leave if they announced a mid-contract price rise but this changed last year when the price rises were written into your contract, so no amount of threatening to cancel will get them to keep your current price. The only leverage you have is when leaving at the end of your contract. (edited)

Make sure you tell them if you've not got Virgin's fibre lines installed, coz obviously Virgin isn't full-fibre like most conventional broadband packages, it's its own separate thing and needs to be properly cabled to your house... and yes Virgin media are so thoroughly incompetant as to sign you up to contracts without taking this into consideration, they just want to take your money, send you a modem in the mail, and you magic up the internet on your own terms.

I lasted about 50hrs as a virgin customer before I decided it wasn't worth the risk. I don't see how this company will still be in this business in a year. I think even OFCOM are losing their patience with them!

Was with them for 20 plus years, left 2 years ago and no way would i go back to these guys even if it was £10 a month

No amount of money would ever tempt me to go back to Virgin. Horrific company.

I have 2gb symmetrical install in two weeks.Got a big reduction from £89 due to the fact that they would lose two potential customers if I didn't allow the connection on my property (can't say price here)
