Have been with O2 for 6/7 years with no problems until this year. I was abroad when on Jan 15th the sent an email saying they would be suspending my direct debit and they were investigating something and there was nothing for me to do.
Fast forward 10 weeks without service, no access to online banking or anything that requires SMS verification. Hours wasted on calls to customer support/Resolver and emails to customer support (joke), the CEO, and no replies from them at all, breaching their own terms and conditions.
Their fraud department put a flag on the account and since they are a law unto themselves, until they remove the flag no one can access my account. can't even get a PAC code to move provider. (Monthly contract with no expiry date.)
When it's resolved I'm away, never to return.
Check out the O2 community forum and see their wonderful service-not.

Clearly it's an issue for you but not really relevant to this thread.

Just left O2 after good few years. Shocking network coverage nowadays.
  3. jhamsim's avatar
Don’t know why anyone would willingly sign up to o2, it’s the worst network going. Dropped calls regularly, network congested anywhere with a more than rural density, drops to E regularly. (Work phone problems) always hotspotting to my other phone on EE?

Because your experience is subjective. I've been with O2 for a while and frankly I've had the same amount of issues as I've had with any other MNO carrier. It's all location dependent really.

I personally stay with them since the roaming is still free, I get heaps of data for a low price, get double the broadband speed with Virgin, get free coffees from Greggs and the service is good enough.

Just for reference I ordered two SIMS through Uswitch in August & September. Neither tracked through TCB & when raising a claim, they required the email address used to log into Uswitch. There is no such email address as Uswitch simply redirect to O2 & the purchase is made with them. Claims were supposedly submitted to Uswitch in February but still haven't paid.

So even though cashback is never guaranteed, TCB seems highly unlikely in this instance. Maybe Quidco is better?

I took up this offer with O2 last week going via Topcashback and Uswitch. It tracked just fine after a few days - it certainly wasn’t immediate! (edited)

What is the best way to shift to the new tariff? I already have 4 sims with them out of contract and going up in April.
    manicmidlander's avatar
Follow the link and choose to upgrade existing contract. Also apply for multisave to take 20% off if you have multiple o2 contracts
  6. deadnheadless's avatar
At would point are people offered to upgrade the current sim? They seem to want to send me a new sim via royal mail.
    rbz5416's avatar
As soon as you're redirected to O2.

Assume there's no way of upgrading an existing contract without paying early termination fee, so would need to wait until current contract expires? Seems the case as I'm getting:

    Upgrade today by paying £32.46

Or wait until 03 Aug 2024 to upgrade at no extra cost
    rbz5416's avatar
You could always try reading the thread...
  8. eng18's avatar
I tried to upgrade through the link with my existing SIM but it says "no upgradable numbers" anyone know how to get around this
    Deal_searcher's avatar
Are you on a SIM only plan and how long has it been? If on SIM only then you can upgrade post 3 months in for free without having to pay any fees I think. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to upgrade. Not sure if your in contact with a mobile phone provided. That maybe slightly different (edited)
  9. clur11's avatar
I want to change to this plan to avoid the price increase. I’m already with o2. If I go to checkout, will there be an option to keep my number? I don’t want to have to get a new number. Thanks
    Kevo2k7's avatar
Yes there is an option to keep same sim/current number.
  10. Kevo2k7's avatar
Did TopCashback track for any existing customers? Mine hasn’t.
    rbz5416's avatar
Not as yet (again!) but TCB are claiming up to 14 days just to track.

    Any free Disney anymore?

    Unfortunately not

Just read too on TCB "If you upgrade a current mobile package to another mobile package" so I guess that would exclude me for cashback.

No harm in trying if you upgrading alresdy

I'll not be renewing with o2. Signal and speed are so hit and miss. Sometimes speed is under 2mb (even when 5g shows!) other times it's 80mb. Forget using your data anywhere busy like a shopping centre or town centre, it just dies off. Will be going back to Vodafone , just so much more reliable. (edited)
    QPRcelona's avatar
Talkmobile (vodafone) speed for me at home 300mbps and o2 was 10-50mbps. I had to leave o2.
  14. dutch090163's avatar
I’m already on this tariff but it’s going up to £9.39 due to the annual increase. Happy with o2 so have used this post to go back to £8.00
    jamgin's avatar
    I'm the same.
Ridiculous merry go round every year come April when they up the price on my £8/month deal and I have to take our a new deal like this one to get it back to £8.....
O2 just stops this stupid April madness! We're not all fools.
  15. jpoolfitz's avatar
Network would close down if they didn’t offer free roaming
    BrianM's avatar
People ALWAYS claim this when it’s the second best network (after EE) in my area!
  16. waysqu's avatar
No price increase because there's no signal increase.
  17. crazy_b's avatar
I got 4 o2 contracts, 3 on £5 a month deal and 1 on the £8 30gb. I have just done the £8 one but need the £5 one to come back 10gb. Only ever seen it once. Not sure they will do that cheap again. Cheaper for me to pay the increase on those for now
    h3avy's avatar
You can get an extra 20% off each contract if they are all under one account
  18. TheChamp's avatar
No Disney Plus now on these offers either. The incentives get less and less.
    manicmidlander's avatar
The thirsty Thursday drink offer also appears to end this week. However, having an o2 siim can double your virgin media speed.
  19. sigarner's avatar
Imagine having to go through another credit check for an upgrade on an £8 a month sim only deal . I’m well overdue an upgrade, I wouldn’t mind if I was getting a phone from them as well :/ . If I didn’t get double data through volt I’d consider going to Lebara
    Hiyayou's avatar
Is it an issue to get a credit check?
  20. rbz5416's avatar
Just managed to use the upgrade process to cancel this years price rise & update one SIM from 20 to 32GB, so thanks .

Does anyone know if I have to re-apply for the 20% discount or will that automatically carry over?

Edit: Found it, you need to re-apply.

    itisnajah's avatar
    What discount is this?
  21. 777jrg_'s avatar
Currently paying £10 for 120GB but data coverage is awful so end up not even using 5 a month as completely unusable. Waiting for my contract to expire so I can change network.
  22. Noxy's avatar
As, a note I tried to get this the other day. You have to do a credit check for it and wait for it to go through. I then had issues with getting the account working and new number so ended up cancelling and getting the Lebara deal for 12GB at 6 months at 1£ a month, no contract deal which is great.
  23. sion22's avatar
I failed the credit check for some reasons (why is it even needed?) even though i have very good credit.
    Topper1900's avatar
It's needed in case you run up a big bill and then don't pay up?
  24. Hydra_'s avatar
Data coverage is so bad, even with full bars in some areas it’s still terrible
  25. theshepp1995's avatar
Thanks upgraded my current £8 for 50Gb volt(had 9 months left in contract) to this 64Gb volt.

    No early upgrade fee.

And dodged the April price rise.

    No brainer.
  26. matt_vans's avatar
Data coverage in my area is terrible struggled to even get 4G. I moved to 1p Mobile. Better tariff and back on 5G.
  27. TLB79's avatar
I upgraded to this deal no bother last week via USwitch. Left it a few days and did the same for my son's Sim. Happy Days!
Paying the same price as last 12 months but now
    have 32GB instead of 25GB
O2 can't match the deal but link takes you to the O2 site so easy enough to upgrade yourself. (edited)
  28. Trekman_1970's avatar
    I tried to upgrade 4 existing O2

SIM’s which I have done many times with no charge but today when I request to move to this deal and upgrade my existing contract it says I have to pay up the balance of my existing contract to Nov !
    Never had that before.
    Anyone else experiencing that !?
Needless to say I will not be switching which is a shame.
    Greigy's avatar
Just click through and they waive the fee.

Sorry possibly being a bit thick. I'm with 02 at the moment and it's less GB I think my next payment is due next week, will I be charged twice?

    Thanks for helping me

If you upgrade to this deal, they might charge you for previous deal, but it will be adjusted in your next bill automatically.
  31. mr-mixalot's avatar
I'm on the 15GB deal at present, can we just take this deal and it will carry over onto my existing contract or do I have to do the switch to other SIM and back to O2 merry go round

EDIT - Never mind I followed the on screen instructions (edited)
  32. Ritz13's avatar
Hi guys, wondering if this deal would still include o2 priority moments...so we can get free coffee from greggs, thirsty Thursdays etc
    karanbajaj90's avatar
    Yes

Their Loyalty program is very ancient. Sounded like it requires an actual human being to review and approve it.

Also - by the T&C of TCB and QC, it doesn't sound like this activity will earn cashback, but I went through it anyway
  35. gregives's avatar
Anyone got any tricks to get around the early upgrade fee? My contract ends in July

Edit: thanks to everyone in the comments, just click through and it'll take it off! (edited)
    rbz5416's avatar
The two I upgraded ran until September but as says, as you proceed the fee is dropped.
  36. GJM's avatar
I’ve got 40gb standard no volt for £8…they likely to appear again
    ken218's avatar
If you got that during Black Friday, then you are likely to get hit by the price adjustment in April
  37. Swifty0802's avatar
Wait, do they no longer offer 3 months amazon prime as one of the o2 extra benefits when upgrading??? I dont see the option
    wjw's avatar
They no longer offer that. I think they stopped it ages ago.
  38. samuelreade's avatar
I got the 40gb deal around November, I'd do it again with 32gb. EE couldn't match the price with half the data through retentions.
  39. iTisYaBoiii's avatar
Nice timing, was looking for a new deal with O2 as my last contract expired and the price went up after the annual increase.
£9.38 going back to £8, no increase this year and even a couple of GB of data extra (not that I really need them but its a bonus!).
  40. m.bxsil's avatar
I’m due for a RPI price increase soon, if I were to access this deal through TopCashback would I still receive the cashback as I’m an existing customer with O2?
