Rumour is they don't handle British weather well and I've seen some proper ropey ones on eBay.

I’ve had two of these, both I kept well seasoned and covered when not in use.

Both rusted through in less than a year.

I’ve heard the newer models are a significant upgrade in build quality so hopefully it’s something they’ve resolved. But personally I would not get another 560.

What is this? A gas/coal bbq?

Is this a viable replacement for a regular BBQ to use occasionally for small family or is it more for larger gatherings??

I've got the larger version of this and I've never had bad results from it. Hot from me!

Its a bbq/smoker with a self feeding lumpwood/charcoal feeder stacker so that you can cook at length without having to keep fueling it, its ceramic which cooks more accurately than just metal, plus it has a digital fan for precise cooking, so yeah its a great piece of kit whether youre a serious or novice bbq fan

You mention its ceramic, I'm not seeing that unless I'm missing something. Is the hopper ceramic?

This or wait for the Louisiana SL1000 to go back on sale at Costco

If you can handle the cook area of this I would go this,

I had the previous generation Louisiana and even using the cover and keeping it in the garage most of the time it went rusty in a year (though the paint job did show manufacturing and sign early on). the controller wasn’t great and acted ‘funny’ a few times and if I wanted to just smoke a couple rack of ribs it worked out Kinda expensive to cook them (primarily due to its size) so I ended up not using it as much as I wanted. If all that is fine for you then go Louisiana (Tbf the paint job means Costco will take it back but it’s a hassle and a longevity issue in the long term) (edited)
