sorted byThat could be read two ways but for me its not a good sign.
Wouldn’t recommend.
Thing that it is good with:
* Detecting energised mains cables - assuming you ground it properly with both hands
Thing that it is somewhat ok with:
* Finding metal (frames, pipes, screws, etc) - generally ok
Thing that adds more confusion:
* Finding studs - unless you have a dry wall with a meter of void behind, it beeps at everything that's behind the wall and adds more confusion than being helpful, it can go on/off without me even moving the damn thing! (edited)
I think a lot comes down to recalibrating it and also following the instructions that state to run it over the area you’re checking a few times.
Once I’ve done this I find it pretty reliable at centring on the objects you want to avoid.
Admittedly in some instances with certain insulations it will just illuminate red across a large span of wall. If its plasterboard a discrete hole with a screw driver to have a poke about is generally enough to determine if it’s safe to drill externally.
