I tried the basic roll of hose from Screwfix the other week and it’s completely useless. Constantly kinking. The guy behind the counter said it’s the same hose they use on these titan reels so I’d avoid for that reason.

I have the Titan one and I can confirm the hose is not great. The memory in this material is insane and it will just constantly turn, curl and kink. There is just no way to keep it straight once it's off the roll.

I have the hozelock equivalent of this but also have a wall mounted retractable hozelock. I know that not everyone can wall mount a hose but those who can should 100% buy a retractable one. These things are a hassle by comparison.

Couldn't agree more. They are more expensive (I bought mine on offer for £75) but my auto retractable hozelock has been faultless for 4 years.

Just incase it helps. Aldi currently have a 20M wall mounted retractable hose pipe Inc all fittings etc. 3 year warranty. Hose is good quality and the mechanism is great.
£29.99. came out Thursday just gone.

Aldi one is great. Bought it on Thursday to replace an old Hoselock one. Would recommend. There’s also some really sturdy spray guns at Costco

Got one, the reel is good being wall mounted, but the hose quality is not good, kinks easily

As mentioned by several others the hose is pretty dire, constantly kinking and mine split after 18 months. It's cheap for a reason. Also it often did not operate properly unless totally unwound, which is inconvernient to say the least, if just want to spray a few plants close to the reel. Avoid.

Get the expanding hoses, so much better than these reeled hoses which kink all the time and not expensive.

Urgh used a few of those and just found them awkward and leaky maybe it's brand dependant but ones I used were garbage

Purchased the Aldi one for £30, which was posted on here. Really happy with the quality of it, plus it has a 3 year warranty. If being critical personally I'd change the nozzle to a trigger one, as the one supplied is tight and need to twist to operate.

Bought one today reaches from front garden to back yes hose is thin but it’ll be fine. They did try sell me a return tho with no box etc with a bent stand but I wasn’t having any of that.

Does the hose lock that so many here are recommending auto retract when you actually don't want it to? For example. Washing car. Put the hose down to do something else, go back to pick up hose but it's racing back through the house slapping wife on the behind as it returns to back garden and now I've got no dinner to look forward to?
