About this deal

£836 pp discount - Amazing hotel and deal one of the best hotels in the area for the money 4.5 trip advisor

Surrounded by tropical greenery, the Riu Tequila has a secluded setting and lots of pools and restaurants.

This place is on a relaxed part of the Caribbean Coast. It's five minutes’ walk down to the platinum-shine beach – or there are golf buggies to whisk you down there in half the time. And, when you want a change of scene, colourful Playa del Carmen's a five-minute drive away.

You'll find a quartet of pools here, including an adults-only option with a swim-up bar, plus a children’s pool with waterslides. Five restaurants have dining covered and you can get snacks 24 hours a day. The Riu Yucatan and the Riu Playacar are just next door – you can use some of their facilities, too.

Weddings are available here – visit our weddings page to find out more.

This hotel is part of the Riu Hotels & Resorts group - one of our handpicked TUI selected partners.

PoolsThe hotel's pool count is a whopping four. One's an activity pool and another's set aside for quiet dips. What's more, they're all framed by lounger-filled terraces, plus the pièce de résistance is a swim-up bar that's just for grown-ups.
Kids can enjoy their own pool which comes with waterslides, too. Read More

Food & DrinkYou've got five restaurants here. Big buffet breakfasts get the day off to a flying start. Later, a steakhouse, an Asian restaurant and a Mexican eatery join the buffet on the billing. There's an Italian à la carte eatery where you can tuck in, as well.
This place is sistered with two other Riu hotels. If you want a change of scene, you can use the restaurants and bars at the Riu Yucatan and Riu Playacar during the day. Read More

EntertainmentAdults and older children will love the evening pool parties. They’re held once a week, complete with DJs and dance performances. And if that's not your cup of tea, there’s something in the spotlight on the big stage every evening.
There’s a Pacha nightclub at this hotel. It's free entry for guests, and your drinks are part of the All Inclusive package, too. For quiet drinks, there's a lobby bar, a sports bar and another with a terrace. Read More

Sports & ActivitiesWatersports are left right and centre at this hotel. You can try sailing on a small catamaran, kayaking and body boarding while you’re here. Or sign up for an introductory scuba diving lesson in the pool.
There are also daily group classes held in the RiuFit area. If you go to the Riu Yucatan, close by, you can use the snorkelling gear at the watersports centre. Read More

Health & BeautyThere’s a Renova spa* pavilion close to the neighbouring Riu Yucatan. It’s scented by candles and you can get treatments like Swedish massages here. Back at base, there's an adults-only gym. Read More

Facility SummaryFacilities-wise, there are four pools, plus a kids' number with waterslides. There are five restaurants to dine at, as well. Not 5 star! Just came back! Nice hotel though quick walk to beach, worth it for that money as I paid same for one week

The official rating is always higher than eu standards in poorer countries but I think its a solid 4 star.

    WOW

What a price! That's an insane offer. 5 star resorts in Mexico are normally truly special. You will get waited on hand and foot. Will feel like VIP, at least that's how I've experienced it in the past 😁💎🫠

Although tipping is customary in the country (doesn't have to be a lot), I wonder what the policy would be about it in the resort.

I was there last may and it's a lovely hotel . Buffet is good and the steak house is very good the golf buggies take you to the beach and if you tip you won't need to ask for drinks they just remember you . Great price for 2 weeks

Been twice to this hotel for 2 weeks, it's good, for the price. I paid £2000 both times, booked quite last minute, in november. The rooms are basic and noisy we had to be moved second time and room air con very poor first time.

But the food is great, pool service good, can go to the sister hotel for lunch at the beach and a change of scene.

I've never been back to the same place twice otherwise but if the deal is good enough would defo consider it!

I have been here three times over the past 20 or so years the last being around 7 years ago . What I found initially it was really like a 5 star however over the years the Standards of food and drink went down more a 3/4 star tops . It is great that you can use the facilities of the other hotels and the Scuba Diving is fantastic from the sister hotel (scuba Caribbe) on the beach.
I don’t think I’d return as you really do get mythered to death on leaving the report . The local town and nightlife “5th Avenue” is really poor where everyone is out to rip you off and as a family we felt slightly unsafe.
Everything got very repetitive at the hotel and I thought 7 days to 10 days was enough for us but everyone’s different . (edited)

They are owned by tui I think. Only issue I had was seat selection had to be done over the phone but might have been a one off

I'm writing this from my sunbed at the Riu Tequila. The weather for the past week has been fantastic. My wife and I visit Mexico twice a year, in April and end October and stay either here or the Riu Yucatan. The weather at these times is hot but without the humidity of the summer months. It is not 5 star but the service, food, drink are all excellent in my opinion. It is certainly better than any equivalent 4 star in Spain. The staff actually smile when serving you! Would I recommend it, without hesitation.

Good deal. Note that the playcar is a higher standard, quieter and on the beach. Yucatan is super busy. Old school price tho! (edited)

Is it still overrun with Coatis?, I quite like them, but the wife wasn’t overly impressed with them jumping up on the tables and stealing food and weeing

Sounds like Magaluf but with a variation of the Coatis....

Visited this hotel about 10 years ago. Do they still have the optics next to the toilet? 😄😄

10 hours maybe, after 6 its immaterial really just how many films you are going to watch.

Went to this hotel last year, really enjoyed it, agree its not 5 star, more 4 star but I found the staff to be 5 star. They were all really nice and yeah small tips help to make your holiday an even better experience there. Im looking to return this October

I stayed over the road in Rui yucatan, it’s the one on the beach front. You can use both hotels.within walking distance of playa del Carmen. 40 mins

    Mexico? dangerous place
    mark.stewart's avatar
not in the touristy areas, the hotel is in a gated village in Playacar, armed police occasionally patrol gthe beach on buggies, I never felt unsafe at any times and went for a night out in Coco Bongo too and felt totally ssafe

Is booking through HH the same as booking through Tui? I see you can add Tui flex in checkout with HH. Any downside of not going direct through Tui?
