Retailers are extending their return policies for Christmas: Full List of Shops Extending Returns Policies for Christmas

Cheapest this has ever been.

Next best price: £94.99 @ Corsair

Note: This is slightly better than the WD SN740 due to the higher random read/writes (1100k Vs 800k), higher TBW (600 Vs 400), and apparently it runs slightly cooler.

  • Compact M.2 2230 Form-Factor: Fully compatible with Valve Steam Deck, Microsoft Surface, and other ultra-thin devices, making a great upgrade for compatible machines.
  • Extreme Gen4 Storage Performance: A PCIe Gen4 x4 controller delivers up to 4,800MB/sec sequential read and 4,800MB/sec sequential write speeds, for rapid read, write, and response times.
  • Your PC Made Faster: Load games, boot Windows, open and transfer files, all faster than ever.
  • High-Speed Gen4 PCIe x4 NVMe 1.4 M.2 Interface: Using PCIe Gen4 technology for maximum bandwidth, the MP600 MINI delivers great storage performance.
  • Backward Compatible*: Automatic support for PCIe Gen3 systems. *Reduced performance on PCIe Gen3.

Damn, Amazon won't refund me the £10 difference, even though it has not been delivered!

There is a new Amazon policy I think. So just order another one and send back first

2280 drives are much cheaper than 2230.

Anyone come accross one that works in the surface pro 8?
    Cheeseandhamtoasty's avatar
From research I did when upgrading my surface pro x to this drive a few weeks ago it appears the pro 8 has issues with some gen 4 drives so I understand your reticence and might be best to stick with gen 3 drives which unfortunately seem to be less readily available and more expensive.
This mp600 mini that I installed in my pro x wifi has worked flawlessly so far in case anyone is in the same boat as me.

Considering the price of physically larger drives I think this will drop quite a bit more.
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
Sadly not, the fact there are so few other options keeps the price of 2230 drives high.
They may drop a little more, likely not much though (unless other brands start releasing 2230 drives, they are quite big businesss now so they really should). (edited)

This is dropping in price so fast!
    Chuggee's avatar
Yes because even though it is a rare form factor, it's still terrible value for money compared to larger NVMe drives. Not worth the premium for most people, even with a Steam Deck.

Dammit, I went for the WD yesterday thinking it would be the cheapest for a while, now I could have saved a fiver... sometimes I really hate this site!

This is a really good deal for 1TB of this SSD storage type to be fair and as mentioned it seems to be dropping . I recently bought 2TB from AliExpress for £125 which included delivery and tax and almost scales with that . I doubt I'll ever need 2TB for my steam deck but at the time of looking, the 1TB was around £100 so went with the 2TB (edited)

Bought one of these last night at £85 - woke up to find it down to £75, so I cancelled and reordered.

Nice little birthday present for myself!

getting cheaper although i have the 512gb steamdeck and a 1TB micro sd I'm too lazy to do the upgrade and the 512gb deck was £455 in the summer sale
    Jack_Peng's avatar
With these dropping in price now a £350 32gb steam deck with a £75 ssd seems like a no brainer

    Chinese seller with 9 feedback?
Can't see many people willing to risk that one especially as you'll have no warranty. (edited)

Everyone who bought the 256gb or 512gb Steam Decks now gets donkey- or lollypop heads like in the cartoons of yesteryear :-)

Fantastic, just bought this so I can upgrade my SSD on my Lenovo Yoga Duet- I've spent ages waiting for a decent hard drive to be affordable!

Does anyone reckon these will drop any further? I'm holding out for a 2TB version but it's over double the cost
    Harrison_Slater's avatar
Look them up on AliExpress, the prices there seem to change first before the reduced prices eventually come here
