Am I really posting a deal for a DRAM-less QLC drive?
Apparently so!
While I'm no fan for these drives, they do have their place.
Cheap PS5/PC drives that are fine for gaming/data storage and some general use.
Just don't buy it if you want something for write intensive tasks in the long term.

NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD Upgraded performance for thinner notebooks and systems Kingston’s NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD is a substantial next-gen storage solution powered by a Gen 4x4 NVMe controller. NV2 delivers read/write speeds up to 3,500/2,800MB/s¹ with lower power requirements and lower heat to help optimize your system’s performance and deliver value without sacrifice. The compact single-sided M.2 2280 (22x80mm) design expands storage up to 2TB² while saving space for other components, making NV2 ideal for thinner notebooks, small form factor (SFF) systems, and DIY motherboards.

    The Endurance is 1TB – 320TB
I'm glad the market is still trending down on the prices
Saying that this review seems to claim its TLC ?

The drive was TLC on release, then a while later Kingston decided to switch to QLC (without making it known in any way, didn't even change the product code).
They weren't the first to pull that stunt though, WD did it with the SN550.

The endurance is normal for a QLC NAND drive. Still fine for a gaming/storage drive.
You'd have to write 175GB a day, every single day for 5 years to wear the drive out.

I don't buy QLC NAND drives myself, but that's just personal preference.
I'd choose a gen3 1TB Kioxia Exceria (£36) over this for PC's/laptops, but that's no good for PS5 owners. (edited)

    Before someone asks:

Yes, it will work fine in the PS5.
You will get a message saying it doesn't meet the 'recommended speed'.
    Just ignore it.

The only slight negative you might have is games taking a little longer to install.
Game loading times/scene changes will barely be different to the internal drive (some games may take 1-2 seconds longer to load, hardly a big deal. (edited)

If you need a heatsink, grab the Thermalright M.2 heatsink from Amazon for £4.

Does anyone know anything about the Viathan 1TB drive on Amazon for £26.99? They seem like a new UK based company formed in April this year. They state a lifetime warranty for their products but with such a short history as a company it's unknown whether they will still be trading in a year or two. I tried to post the deal but admins removed it.

Drives like that usually use rejected NAND from plants or NAND salvaged from faulty drives, manufactured in back street sweatshops in China.
    Woudn't go near them.

I tried to post the deal but admins removed it.

Sellers need to have at least 300 ratings and at least 90% positive.
They currently have 2 ratings, I doubt they'll ever get close to 300. (edited)

Perfect for the PS5, if you don't need 2TB then this is what I'd go for. Other than installing a game the vast majority of access will be reads which this will be absolutely fine for. Hot from me OP.

Not bad, but don't think the seller meets HUKD requirements - the deal will probably be deleted once the admins wake up.

    Blue-Fish are fine.
653 ratings and 94% positive, well within the requirements (300/90%).
For a mega poster such as yourself I thought you'd know that.

There a plenty of deals posted for them alerady. (edited)

Crucial P3 1TB (+ Acronis) is the same price, with Amazon as seller if anyone is looking for a similar alternative.

Edit: my bad, P3 is Gen3. (edited)

Is it backwards compatible with PCIE 3.0? I want to use in an older laptop but I'd like to use it my new laptop in the future as well.

Yep, it will just run at gen3 speeds (only sequential speeds are limited, general performance will still be fine). (edited)

are you sure thermalrights fits the ps5?

I was looking at this youtube video and it seems like you have to remove screws and people in the comment say it does not fit.

Please let me know as I am looking for a heatsing for thr ps5 with this drive.

    That's a different one.
This is the £4 one that I've installed in PS5's -
    amazon.co.uk/The…TF8

There's also a review from someone on Amazon that said it fit OK, so you should be fine.

I usually don't post the link as admin remove it most of the time because the seller doesn't have enough ratings yet.
Hopefully you see this before they delete it, lol. (edited)
