    Is this better than the

    1TB - Kingston NV2 PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe SSD

Deal from a few days back?

    rad. Author
Yes. The NV2 is QLC with no dram whereas the Kioxia is TLC with dram. If you are worried about the speed then the slightly faster G2 model is £3 more: hotukdeals.com/dea…815 (edited)

If just using this as external hard drive connected via usb 3, does it make sense to get the g2 version with £3 more? Thank you!
    rad.'s avatar
    rad. Author
USB NVMe enclosures are usually 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps which would allow a max speed of 620MB/s or 1250MB/s so you wouldn't notice a difference if you get the G2 version. (edited)

hubby been watching utube how to install a hardrive on laptop, so hoping he can fit one in without breaking laptop :-)
    Thankyou for any advice (edited)

The laptop has a spare NVMe slot so should work fine according to this:

G2 model is £3 more on Amazon

    amazon.co.uk/dp/…LPY

Probably a bit quicker, worth comparing reviews for both if that's important.

    Silly price!
I've used these and the G2 for many years in plenty of builds for people, never had a single issue with any of them. (edited)

Thanks OP - also glad it's NOT Amazon too, their logistics people have hired an idiotic courier in our area and every single parcel is getting stuck in the wrong places these days.

Royal Mail always delivers me mail from about a mile away, the post codes aren't even similar. You'd think in 2023 these sort of problems wouldn't exist with GPS satellites above us. (edited)
