Great Deal!!
Anyone know how much it is to upgrade?
These probes rely on being inserted into the meat/fish so that the electronics inside the tip of the probe won't exceed 100C (or thereabouts). They are protected from full cooking temperature by the food being cooked.
Only a temperature sensor plus aerial/charging wire extends out into what should be the exposed part of the probe. If the whole probe (or most of it) gets exposed to full cooking temperature - it will die. If the food is over-cooked with the reading going over scale - it will die.
Unlike the wired version - where only the temperature sensor is in the probe.
So placement of the probes is more critical for a wireless one...
