Be warned. BA like to cancel flights providing less than 24 hours notice and after you have checked in.
No reason provided and no workable alternative flight offered.
They did this to me 3 days ago.
BA used to be good but not anymore

A broad generalisation based on your experience of a single flight.
Can happen with any flight and any airline.
Travel insurance covers for such eventualities if the airline doesn't fulfil it's legal obligations.
Whatever alternative airline you suggest, there'll be someone else with a similar tale.

Thanks to OP for a good deal, but no thanks at all to what should be called London Airways.

Any chance of a few flights from an airport up north, or even the Midlands, BA(or LA)?

There’s connecting flights from many domestic airports BA serve. Manchester being one.

No budget airlines at Heathrow. I wish they were.

Other London airports are nowhere near London really. Depends where you live.

You can get from central London to Gatwick quicker than you can Heathrow…

Should be renamed London Centred Airways, I will not touch BA anymore due to the Capital bias.
Very poor service too. I flew all the time with BA in the past internationally, but they are just another bucket shop airline now.

There's not enough demand for that. At this point BA basically trades off of legacy and being 'not Ryanair'. The issue is that outside of the capital the ratio of business to leisure travellers changes dramatically and the majority of leisure travellers will happy enough with a cheaper Jet2 flight, a Ryanair flight etc.

Of course some would appreciate it but they're not going to be able to fill planes in the same way at those others, or the same way BA does in London. So that makes it harder to turn a profit. You could try filling planes up by running a lighter schedule, but then your overheads take up a higher proportion of costs and that means you'd have to charge more for those fewer flights which only serves to make those other airlines more appealing.

Hmmm... Guess it's good for some destinations, but I booked a BA return to Amsterdam in November just over a week ago - before this deal began - and it's now £25 more for the same flights.

Book as far ahead as possible for the best prices and choice of dates/times. Prices tend to go in one direction only.

My Budapest & Vienna autumn flights are x2 what they were when I booked 4 weeks ago.
Might seem a bargain if they knocked 30% off in this sale. However, knowing they were 50% cheaper a month ago, you'd be more sceptical.

Sales prices might not be as good as they seem, although there's definitely some bargain "headline" low fares to be found.

This deal is extended to Business for anyone like me who uses them for this class. I cant believe some of the comments. I have never had any issues, Its a 1st Class service from Check in to Destination. Since changing from Economy to Business/First its a total different experience. Both short haul and long haul you can often get deals cheaper than Economy plus all the extras like lounge, fast security, 1st on and off etc etc

The price to Dublin seems to be 2x what it was a couple of years ago.

Good for those based 'dan sawff' but add on diesel and a hotel stay and better for me to fly from Manchester (edited)

Looking at Salzburg in Feb, under £400 for 4 adults, would book but both starting college/university so it's unknown whether they'll want to come with us and there would be a charge for amending passenger details... Thanks though!

Very wise to book that far ahead already.
My Budapest flight in September has doubled since I booked 4 weeks ago.
I did the same for Copenhagen flights for an Easter break last month, booked 4 returns for £526 last September. The same flights priced at over £5k at the end of March

The best deals are for anyone prepared to bet on long dates.
I'd happily lose £100 on a long punt, than be scraping for last minute pickings and paying silly prices.
