If you intend on using a dedicated graphics card, then consider an extra 15-20 for the non-integrated graphics 5600 chip. The difference between these two is greater than that of a 5600 to a 5800X3D.

They really shouldn't have called this a 5600G, as it so much slower than a 5600. (edited)

If you choose the 5600 over the G, then its worth going for something like a b550 motherboard to take advantage of pcie4, especially for graphics cards as lower end models tend to be x8 (like the 4060 and 4060 ti), or worse x4 like the 6500XT. Gen 4 SSD performance you won't notice any difference over gen 3, unless you have 2 drives and like to copy large files between the two for fun.

The 5500 is the equiv of this without the igpu and often around £80

    5500 or 5600g, something a520 based is a good match, or b450.

    I can't decide whether to get this or the Intel® Core™ i3-12100 Processor - 12M Cache, up to 4.30 GHz - 60 watt for £101.52 amazon.co.uk/Int…29R

    Any ideas please?

The 12100 is slightly faster overall, it really comes down to the cost of motherboards and personal preference.

Some people say that site is biased towards Intel but personally I don't think it's far out. (edited)

How much power would this use at idle or maybe whilst downloading/uploading in the background? Thanks in advance!
