About this deal

I was on the look out for a good quality doc for my laptop that would provide some additional features such as USB charging and the ability to extend my desktop with additional screens at home.

This looks to fit the bill and I thought the price was good too. Here's some additional information. See what you think.

  • Compatibility Information: Works with Windows 10 laptops equipped with a Thunderbolt 4 port (Intel Evo Platform), and MacBooks running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later. Not compatible with Linux or Chrome OS laptops, Thunderbolt 3 Windows laptops, or M1 MacBooks.
  • Connect More: Equipped with a Thunderbolt 4 upstream port, a Thunderbolt 4 downstream port, a USB-C Power Delivery port, 2 HDMI ports, an Ethernet port, an SD card slot, a 3.5 mm AUX port, and 4 USB-A ports.
  • Charge and Transfer at High Speed: Get a powerful charge for your laptop, phone, and more thanks to 90W max and 15W Thunderbolt 4 ports plus a 20W USB-C Power Delivery port. Transfer a 20GB file in just 14 seconds when you use the Thunderbolt 4 port, or in just 26 seconds when you use the USB-C port.
  • Improve Your Display Options: The Thunderbolt 4 port supports up to 8K@30Hz while the two HDMI ports support resolutions of up to 4K@60Hz. Connect via all three simultaneously to enjoy crystal-clear streaming or mirroring across 3 displays.
  • What You Get: Anker Apex Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station (dock stand not included), 120W power adapter, 3.9 ft power cord, 2.3 ft Thunderbolt 4 cable, welcome guide, quick start guide, and our friendly customer service.

I'm kind of disappointed that there are so few of these docks that have 2.5GbE, I know it's not for everyone but the market is moving.

description says its not compatible with M1 Macs..

I think that relates to the inability of the M1 to communicate to two external monitors*; so it does work if you don't need to connect to two monitors.

    * The M1 mac Mini can communicate to two external monitors because it does not have an internal monitor.

    I hope this helps.

I want to do what Linus from Linus tech tips does and use a thunderbolt dock and then a fibre thunderbolt cable to connect to his PC from a distance. I have a great PC upstairs and I'd love to be able to connect to it from the lounge.

What are you planing to connect at the lounge? As this will affect what you need/best solution. Also rough distance.

So far I have only seen thunderbolt cables up to 5m so more distance will require different approaches (an those has poor reviews, lost signal… 2-3m seems more a guarantee limit) (edited)
