Update 1
Price drop to £1249.99

[15-JUL-2023] Update: Amazon have reduced the price further to £1,249.99

Not quite as cheap as the Amazon DE deal posted in May - but seems to be the cheapest ever price on Amazon UK (co-incidentally matching the current Costco price)

  • SUPERCHARGED BY M2 PRO — M2 Pro brings power to take on demanding projects. Its up to 12-core CPU makes pro workflows fly, and the up to 19-core GPU provides next-level graphics performance. It can be configured with up to 32GB of unified memory.
  • CONNECT WHAT YOU WANT — Mac mini with the M2 Pro chip has four Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Gigabit Ethernet and a headphone jack. And if you want faster networking speeds, you can configure Mac mini with 10Gb Ethernet for up to 10 times the throughput.
  • SIMPLY COMPATIBLE — All your go-to apps run lightning-fast on your Mac mini, from Microsoft 365 to Adobe Creative Cloud to Zoom. And over 15,000 apps and plug-ins are optimised for M2 Pro.
  • EFFICIENT MEMORY — Unified memory on Mac does more than traditional RAM. A single pool of high-bandwidth, low-latency memory allows Apple silicon to move data fast — so everything you do is fluid. Choose up to 32GB memory with M2 Pro. More memory means easier multitasking and handling of large files.
  • FAST SSD STORAGE — Mac mini comes with all-flash storage for all your photo and video libraries, files and apps. Choose up to a whopping 8TB SSD with M2 Pro.
  • KEEP IT SAFE AND SECURE — M2 Pro and macOS Ventura give Mac mini industry-leading privacy and security features, including built-in protections against malware and viruses. And the next-generation Secure Enclave helps keep your system and data protected.
  • MAC MINI DOES THAT — Mac mini with M2 Pro crushes compute-intensive tasks, from editing massive images and 8K ProRes video to 3D modelling.
  • EASY TO USE — Getting set up is simple, and Apple ID makes it easy for you to switch to Mac. So you can get going, straight out of the box.
  • ADD A DISPLAY AND ACCESSORIES — Pair Mac mini with Apple Studio Display. Connect Apple accessories like Magic Keyboard with Touch ID or your favourite compatible accessories.

As usual with Apple little gains equal massive price increases, this is why they don't allow you to upgrade the internals yourself anymore. Cause if you could get a £300-400 used M1 Mac Mini and put in larger storage and more ram, you'd be laughing for a decade and not need to upgrade.

    Boring.

    What price increases?

Biggest issue with Apple M chips is they are just too good.

I have a M1 mini and whilst I keep thinking about an upgrade I keep coming back to the same conclusion - the M1 is still brilliant I don't see enough of a gain to warrant the spend.

Agreed. I'm still running a M1 Mini 16GB / 512GB (purchased 27 months ago) and finding it hard to justify an upgrade. It continues to run like a dream.

Just a heads-up for anyone monitoring this deal, Amazon have dropped the price a little further to £1,249.99

It's kinda crazy that you're better off getting a 15" air and this rather than just getting one MBP. But that's apple pricing for you!

I did mention that in my description - however, the deal doesn't appear to be available on the Amazon DE website any more - I get a 'We're sorry, an error has occured' message when I search for it - unless you have a working link?

EDIT: It looks like I can still add it to my basket and then it shows a price... (edited)

The M2 Pro MacBook 16 inch is a mad price so unless you need the MacBook screen and portability either this M2 Pro or the Studio is the way to go at least until the iMac gets a sensible specification.

I am not comfortable with the thermal management on the Mac Mini though.

I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to regarding the thermals, but if it helps, I processed a 45 minutes or so 4k video in Final Cut Pro a few days ago. It was blisteringly fast, and the mini didn't even get warm or bring the fan on. I used a 2018 i5 6 core model previously, connected to a Razer Core eGPU (only an RX580, admittedly) and you could have fried an egg on top of it, along with it taking forever.

Silly question - would there be a way in which this iMac mini will be inferior to my iMac here? The 40GB is useful, but the most 'strain' my iMac is put under is through having Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign working at the same time, rather than video editing, rendering etc. So I assume the 16gb and other features will be enough?50551264-pl4wA.jpg
