Idk about this, it’s the 5th gen model. Still solid but you can get the 6th gen model for around the same price (most likely won’t be 2TB but I doubt most people need that much).

I bought 6th gen 256gb wifi + cellular for £800 sealed on eBay.
    plewis00's avatar
Not a lot in it for extra performance, more RAM in the 2TB version too. Suspect people who need this may be considering replacing an entire system with that much storage.

Ordered a second one for my wife as the price is so good after umm-ing and ahhh-ing for days. Anyone know how long these usually take to ship? Hoping to get it before next week as we leave on a trip. (edited)

Ordered Monday evening it's coming today Wednesday so pretty much next day.

until when will Apple support this please

I’d expect another 5-6 years of ios updates. More would be nice, but I wouldn’t expect it.

Cheaper to get in US, mental how much apple stuff costs in the UK. As an airline A380 pilot , I only buy Apple products when I’m over in the US!

Apple Store, taxes depends on state but I generally shop these when I’m in California

Can you play skygo on an external monitor from this? Thinking of getting it for productivity as well but key is being able to watch on a big screen.
    SunnyUpNorth's avatar
Nope, they blocked it some time ago.

Pad Pro (M2): Performance and featuresLike the design, a lot of the features between the 2021 and 2022 iPad Pros are the same, but there are a couple of major updates in the new model.

ProcessorThis biggest upgrade in the new iPad Pro is the chip: the 2022 model has an M2 processor, which replaces the M1 that was used in the 2021 model. It’s the first tablet to have an M2 chip (the iPad Air still has an M1), and one of two Macs, the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The M2 is a powerful chip, with eight CPU cores divided into four performance cores and four efficiency cores. In our testing, the M2 is roughly 15 percent faster than the M1.

The M2 chip in the iPad Pro also has 10 GPU cores, an increase over the 8 GPU cores in the M1. In benchmarks, the M2 has about 30 percent better graphics performance improvement over the M1. The M2 also has an improved media engine that includes acceleration for ProRes video, and Apple says the M2 can transcode ProRes video three times faster than the M1. Apple also says the M2’s 16-core Neural Engine is 40 percent faster, and the 100Gbps of unified memory bandwidth provides a 50 percent boost.

The iPad Pro’s memory configuration has not changed. On models with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage, you get 8GB of unified memory, while the 1TB and 2TB models come with 16GB.

Not sure if the mini LED screen is worth £300 more… im torn between the two
    plewis00's avatar
It’s not, unless you need the bigger display size (Apple knows people will pay for it). The mini-LED is very bright and clear but it can cause bloom on high contrast images (eg white objects surrounded by black), that’s a limitation of the technology.

Ordered nearly 3 hours ago and no e-mail from costco yet and cant log into my account but the money is showing out the bank. Anyone else have this happen?

Edit: 8:56am Still not got an e-mail

    Edit 2: 9:16 - I now have the e-mails all done (edited)

I love this iPad. The display is just chef’s kiss. I miss it. I’ve used both sizes and this is just the best of the best.

I went from 4th gen to 5th gen purely for the screen. If you watch a lot of hdr content it’s night and day.
    jg213's avatar
What HDR formats can the ipad accept? E.g h264, etc. Probably best to transfer your own movies by USB to PC?
  11. megasnajper's avatar
Think they took off the auto discount on the larger size now
    Kristang's avatar
Never been any auto discount on the larger one
  12. Ali2021's avatar
I have this one and I would say that while the size and screen is amazing, it can get heavy and/or awkward to hold for long periods if you want it for watching media etc.

I also have the Magic Keyboard and while that’s brilliant, together it becomes heavier than a MacBook Air.

Just some things to bear in mind if you’re thinking of buying.
  13. Cowlover's avatar
They have the iPad Pro 12.9" and 11" previous gen on offer not just the top model.

I grabbed the iPad Pro 12.9 512Gb for £869 which seems a steel compared to the current gen price!
    magnavox72's avatar
They’re all a great price compared to current gen. The 1 and 2TB models also have double the RAM (16GB instead of 8GB) compared to the others.
  14. chenzz's avatar
    Got the iPad.
Screen colour is warm and nice.
Very very disappointed with Davinci Resolve performance. The freeze is unbearable to read 4k videos from SD card. Will try again later tonight with files copied to the iPad.
    umirza85's avatar
Have you used a samsung T7 drive? I dont even bother to pull videos onto the ipad anymore. I think even a T5 will be night and day compared to an SD card.
  15. umirza85's avatar
Yeah looks oos for now, this was a mega deal. Mine came the next day after ordering too! Really impressed with Costco. Was for my wife, picked up a refurbished magic keyboard for 150 on eBay too.

If mainly watching movies, which would be best, a MacBook Air or IPad Pro? Thanks
    cantonbean's avatar
To be honest I’d say the 12.9 iPad Pro of even the Samsung S8+ as that has OLED screen. I use my iPad for work as well but if it is just for movies the Samsung actually has a better aspect ratio and they are cheaper with trade ins. Media apps are just better on mobile devices as well. (edited)

Can't decide between this and 11 inch. What is returns policy if decide this is too big?
    ceebs's avatar
My wife told me that a guy at work has one that’s 11inches. She’s tried it a couple of times and said it’s more than enough. I hope that helps.

Paid 1034£ one year ago for 1TB 5th gen cellular. It’s was excellent condition, not new but still got like 11 months of warranty. Seems like it’s was a good choice.
  20. deleted2878240's avatar
Just snatched one, thanks for posting!
  21. Stuyb's avatar
Went in store to compare both this and the 11 inch side by side…., liked them both! Screens good and movies played v well.

Tbf, other than the size didn’t notice a massive difference with the screen (based on viewing in store lighting, I’d like to say a few bits maybe seemed crisper though they maybe placebo effect, I’m sure someone more tuned may notice the hdr differences more.)

Pros and cons to both as many have mentioned (no doubt some are more in the know with these than me), For what I need have opted for the 11 inch version (the £300 saving comparison helps as well), just preferred the weight and feel, it’s a big upgrade on my old iPad (non pro).

Looking forward to testing it out
    SupraniLA's avatar
Is it in store same price as online? TIA

Just got mine about an hour ago after ordering at about 8pm on Tuesday

Finally caved on this and bought one. Spent the last 2-3 days on & off, deciding whether to get this or the 512gb with 8gb ram due to the big saving on the 512gb version. Probably never get near utilising the 16gb ram, but I hate having regrets if I start doing lots of 4k video editing, and internal memory starts getting lower. 2TB should store pretty much everything I need, & may be more future-proof for pro apps IF they start utilising the higher available RAM.
A little annoying that FCP doesn’t carry across to the iPad if already owned (I own it on iMac) instead of subscription only, so I can use it away from home without having to pay monthly.
Now to get Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard
Finally, I have my fingers crossed this may reduce by £100 in the coming weeks like the 512gb version did
    hurk87's avatar
Good choice! I’ve caved in and ordered one too. It’s insane that the same spec M2 version costs a full £2,499 from Apple

Some great deals with Costco on 3rd gen iPad Pros.
  27. Billy1321's avatar
Does anyone know when the deal is likely to expire at Costco?

Would like to get to a store to compare the two sizes. My wife has the very original iPad pro 12, and that feels huge and heavy.

Unfortunately it doesn’t say. They have a 4 day special, which ends today. The iPads are not on that list. You could email them.

Other than that, I’d check the weights online, for now, to get an idea of the difference. (edited)

Are people getting screen protectors for this? Not sure if I should or not
    BlackAdam's avatar
Do get it. If you use Apple Pencil buy the protector that imitates real paper
  29. John_Deere's avatar
Any idea on shipping times for these?
    Stuyb's avatar
Most people posting have received them within a few days, true to what they advertise online on their website

They are dispatched directly from Apple’s UK distributor, Ingram Micro. I got a text from Parcel Force yesterday, stating delivery between 20:20-21:20. They came at 18:30, so I had to reschedule for tomorrow, and I’ll be out most of the day.

I’ve received mine today, in the end, even though I rescheduled delivery for tomorrow.

I got an update from the Parcel Force website, saying it was out for delivery, just before I was due to go out. As I went out the door to speak to my friend about it, they turned up.

I’ll get the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard tomorrow, and hopefully my Pencil, will arrive soon. (edited)

Looks like all the generation 3 11inch and generation 5 12 inches all out of stock now. Not sure what Costco is plotting on… maybe discontinuing them to prepare for new iPad Pro lines?

New IPad Pro not expected until Spring 2024. It did look like a clearance sale though, good for us
