Contrary to some of the above comments, you do get a minimum 2 year Legal Guarantee from Amazon along with all retailers thanks to EU Consumer Law that has been adopted into UK domestic law post Brexit. Retailers may not advertise it, or want you to know, but it exists. Amazon agents confirm this if asked, and I've also had it confirmed in writing regarding laptops and other electronic goods. Costco trumps Amazon with no quibbles returns period, but requires membership and not so convenient if no store nearby.

Costco will repair if it is economical for them to do it (with the way things are made today this is not very often the case), if not they will give you your money back. I have had this happen on several TV’s over the years, there is no drawn-out wrangling over your rights.

In before the usual comments - 8GB RAM and the slower than 512GB version SSD are not an issue for most users that would buy an entry model device. I own this model and its perfect for games (world of warcraft etc) and for normal home use. (edited)

8GB is small and not suitable for "normal home use" unless home use means doing very little with it indeed - I have owned a 16GB M1 with 2TB SSD. Look at multiple YouTube reviews and the honest ones will talk about stuttering and performance degradation on the 8GB model as soon as you try place it under moderate performance stress.

£539 with education discount from apple, if you know someone with UNiDAYS, totum etc. £580 still a good price if you’ve got absolutely no way of getting that discount (edited)

Unfortunately, you cannot pay on instalments, 0%, with a student discount.

The good news is AMD have announced the next generation of CPUs will compete with the M2

there is a very real chance that within 12 months windows will have M2 rivals (with over 16 GB RAM) that beats the M2 in every compute task and will be significantly cheaper. Apple (again) are a useless toy for contrarian hipsters

now the apple fan will scream about system OS reliability and efficiency and to that i can only say

I cant hear you over the system efficiency and integrity of Manjaro

We do owe apple thanks for making AMD try harder.

tl/dr- This little box is useless now and will only ever be useful when Apple allow user up gradability (something they used to do) and the only way that happens is if people stop buying this trash

we made Nvidia listen, we can also make Apple listen

Not sure if it's really reasonable to compare AMD with Apple though, considering that Apple sell on quality and UX, while AMD just aims to look good in benchmarks. It's not as if there's any Linux distro that can circumvent faulty graphics card coolers, proc-killing voltages, usb dropouts, or the like.

I've had one of these for 6 weeks, I bought it in the US. The Costco deal here is ok for sure, but as the previous poster says, you've really got to find a way to get it via one of the student schemes.
In terms of kit, it is amazingly quick and once you are used to MacOS, really easy to use. No problems so far with performance, lagging, crashing etc.

Agreed. I got my M2 Mini 2 months ago using the Totum discount via the Apple Education store for £539. Indeed I posted the deal here on HDUK.

Getting a Totum card is relativly easy too - even if you are not a 'real' student, unlike getting a UNIDAYS. A totum card is cheap too plus you get other discounts, like 10% off Dell and 10% off all Co -Op purchases.

A 60% drop in storage performance from the previous version, AND the Intel version! FAIL!

Looks like it's the same price on Amazon. But no two year warranty I suppose. Oops I didn't see you already wrote that in the description. Ha.

I don’t think you can get a free Costco membership, I think (hope!) I have the cheapest membership, which is about £30/year
