About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
£40 minimum order online. Available in store - I just got a bottle
£33 is as low as the most recent Amazon offer, which has now expired. It's a lot for a 5 year old whisky, but it's also a lot less than the grown-up Ardbeg versions. I like Ardbeg and its smoke and peat; YMMV.
Wee Beastie's not rough, but neither does it slide down without you noticing
added by
Guaranteed 5 Years Old. Non Chill-Filtered.
Established in 1815, Ardbeg is revered by connoisseurs around the world as among the peatiest and smokiest, yet most complex, of all the Islay malts, balancing smokiness with sweetness to provide a wider complexity of taste.
A Monster of a Dram Young and intensely Smoky, with a rich explosive mouthfeel of Chocolate, Tar and Savoury Meats. Cracked Black Pepper and sappy Pine Resin on the snout. Wreaking Flavour in its Path. There are plenty of things in the world that cannot be fully explained. One such peculiarity has emerged from the peat bogs of Islay. Said to be a feisty young creature, witnesses have spoken of its formidable bite. Senses are heightened with each encounter. First comes an intense aroma of cracked black pepper, mingling with sappy pine resin and the sharp tang of smoke. Suddenly, the explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. Savoury meats sink into the palate, before the long salty mouth-coating finish slinks away.
Tasting Notes:
ON THE EYES: Bright Gold (Auric).
ON THE NOSE: Fresh, herbal, hints of vanilla, pear, cracked black pepper & honey-glazed ham. Rich coffee, pine resin. With water, more herbal notes like vetiver & fennel, aniseed, apple & leather.
ON THE PALATE: A rich, explosive mouthfeel with lots of chocolate, tar, creosote and smoked bacon, followed by a burst of antiseptic lozenges, eucalyptus and more aniseed.
Alcohol Units
33.2 UK Units per bottle
25ml = 1.2 UK Units per glass
ABV
47.4% vol

sorted byI got it as part of the 3 x 200ml gift set, which also includes the 10 and An Oa. I think this is good value at around £33 as you get to try 3 different whiskies, and the cost per ml is pretty reasonable when you factor in the higher cost of the 10 and An Oa.
The An Oa is my favourite Ardbeg, beating off the mighty Uigeadail , though I've yet to try the Corryvreckan.
