I think this is the lowest new price this has been.

For £400 - you could build a pretty powerful hardwired WiFi 6e mesh network via Asus AiMesh.

One-Tap Safe Browsing
The internet can contain inappropriate content, intrusive ads or other dangers and safety risks. ASUS Safe Browsing helps block undesirable content in one tap -- no extra apps required. Its lightweight DNS-based filtering won’t affect router performance. It can even filter explicit content from search engine results to protect your kids online.

Alongside the latest WPA3 security protocol, the ASUS RT-AXE7800 also features AiProtection Pro powered by Trend Micro, with automatic, regularly updated security signatures to protect your devices and personal data from internet threats.

Parental Controls at Your Finger Tips

You can also flexibly schedule internet access with one click, or you can grant extra online time for your kids to reward their good behavior.

Make Free WiFi Secure with Instant Guard
When you are away from home, the ASUS Instant Guard mobile app gives you one-tap secure internet access via your RT-AXE7800 router, thanks to its encrypted VPN tunneling technology. Our newly upgraded app even lets you easily share this network connection with your family and friends through a URL link.

Multi-Gigabit Wired Connection
Equipped with a 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port, the ASUS RT-AXE7800 also features both WAN and LAN aggregation, providing you with more options when assembling your network. This flexibility lets you deliver massive bandwidth to your wired devices and takes advantage of ultra-high-speed internet connections in many scenarios.

Voted cold, Saruman had one of those and wifi was so bad, it was quicker to send a homing moth than an email for EagleUber.

Good price but is this going to work well as an ai mesh in our typical UK houses were we usually have at least one internal brick wall to overcome lol

I.e. its triband but instead of the more common (older 2.4, 5 and a 2nd 5Ghz for ai mesh backhaul), it's 2.4, 5 and 6GHz. I believe 6GHz has a shorter range so might need careful placing of the 2 nodes. You could switch to using 5Ghz but then you are sharing backhaul with 5Ghz connected devices. (edited)

As good as any other which is why I said hardwired in my description.

What sought of speeds we can get using hard wired setup? Will this be using home plug adapter? But that’s down to wiring setup in the house. Any guides you can share please?

    Great price!

I'm currently using an AX5400 meshed with a GS-AX3000 (yet to hardwire them together)

Otherwise, I'd make my wife angry by impulsively buying another router for our 1 bedroom house lol!

Still need some 6E compatible devices to come out to make full use of this. Decent price still! Heat

I want them to build a mesh with dedicated 160mhz wifi backhaul, but not enough to pay 200 quid for each node.

Only a single 2.5gbit port cuts off a lot of uses.

I don't think anything at this price has multiple. For me, I'd use it for internal file transfer and the hardwiring to the second unit.

It’s a good router but I couldn’t get 6E band working/to show on my windows 10 laptop or PC (both with 6E receivers)

Try this - Go into device manager, find the receiver, properties, configure, then you'll see the three speeds, try select the 6 as preferred over 2.4 and 5 (or disable the others) it'll force it. And make sure the duplex is full speed, and disable all
    the eco stuff.

Was going to purchase this to upgrade my Asus RT AC86U - but a comment on dongknowtech's review and an amazon review both stated this router fared worse! Not worth the hassle

I wonder how this compares with the draytek routers. I will have to do some research. Draytek have been known to be solid routers though quite expensive

edit: so my comparison would be the draytek Vigor 2927ax. This looks epic. Expensive but Epic. I think I will look to go down the Draytek route (edited)

As far as I am aware Draytek do not have a Wifi 6e router.

Does anyone know how good uPnP on this? I have a lot of servers connected that require port forwarding and my current router maxes out and can’t cope. Any suggestions on best router for uPnP/port forwarding?
