To save anyone else digging -
CPU is an i3-1220P (not too bad, efficiency over performance but still capable)

Pretty good price, hard to find decent 17" laptops these days that aren't utter garbage or monster gaming machines costing £1000+.

Obviously makes sense to buy the membersip and get the laptop for less.

    EDIT:
Oh, scroll down and look to the right -

One comment says expandable memory but the spec stated 1 memory slot. Does this mean you have to take the 8gb out and use a 16gb to increase the memory?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
Nope, there will be a spare slot.

Can I edit 4k videos on this?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
    Yes.
    Just very, very slowly.

    EDIT:
Actually, it should have QuickSync which helps. (edited)

A couple of hoops to jump through to get it for £299, but such a good deal for that price with expandable memory. Heat!

Still available at £389. £40 cashback available from AO to bring it down to £349.

I have an early 2011 17 inch Macbook Pro (1980x1200 pixels), which, this will replace, so I am hoping the resolution will be similar and most importantly Linux Mint runs on it without any hassle, fingers crossed

Surprised this hasn't hit 100c yet.
I know not that many people like 17" laptops, but decent budget ones are hard to fine, and this is decent!

That's probably the way I posted the deal, hahahahahaha. I should have dazzled and done more research, description, etc. I haven't posted in ages and I thought many of the luminaries at hukd, would have posted it, so imagine my surprise

As long as someone has benefited, I am happy Thanks to you all for the support and very useful information. Mine is due to be delivered by DPD between 11 and 12, according to the email I received this morning. Looking forward to installing Linux Mint when I get home from work. (edited)

Is there a spare slot to add extra storage to this in addition to the 256gb fitted?
    Thanks.
