Just to clear up some confusing/conflicting information in the description:

  • Hi Tensile Steel Frame
  • 18" docklands alloy frame with convenient folding mechanism

It's an 18" aluminium frame with a steel fork, NOT a steel frame.

For a more accurate spec of this bike bickertonportables.co.uk/bik…ry/

The review on the Very website suggests it maybe the 18" frame.... (edited)

Absolute bargain... I own this bike and I believe it normally retails around £800

Considering the wheel size, 13.9kg is not that heavy. 24 speeds is a bit OTT though. Have some heat.

There's not really anything wrong with this bike, I just don't see the point.

If you want a folding bike for a similar budget there are several 20" wheel bikes that makes more sense because they fold a lot smaller.
If you want a mountain bike then you'd be much better off with something that doesn't fold. Again, there have been several offers to choose from around this price.
If you just want a bike for leisure/commuting, a hybrid would make more sense than something that folds unnecessarily.

It's not a BSO, I'm just struggling to come up with a reason for its existence.

Bickerton is a famous name with regard to bicycles?

Yes, but they've gone bust and the name has changed hands several times since then. There are a lot of once great brand names that are now meaningless.
