I'm looking into getting my first drill for my new house, is it normal that a battery and charger cost more than the drill itself?

The cheapest decent (4ah) battery and charger for this Bosch I could find on eBay were:
    Battery 4 AH £44.95
    Charger GAL 18V-20 £13.39
    Total with drill £106.68

Would still go for a Dewalt DCD796 (£59.79) over this Bosch, though. Totally different league in performance and toughness and the superb directional work light is worth the difference on its own, all for just about £11 more after buying charger and battery.
    Battery 18V XR 4Ah £45.99
    Charger Dewalt DCB112 XR £11.95

    Total with drill £117.73

    Not much torque on this.

Bosch know more about Torque than we ever will. Great price, everyone can see it is not a site work drill, much like most DeWalt efforts in this price range.
