Excellent beer. Clearly have Guinness in their sites and for me they best it. It is a lot more complex than Guinness and has a great roasty flavour with a more hoppy and bitter back end.

Brewdog is not my favourite brewery for sure but credit where it is due, this one is excellent and at this price it will be in my trolley weekly.

Tip when pouring - open the can and invert it into the glass and just allow it to glug in from the vertical. You'd think it would end up a foamy mess but this is how they suggest pouring it and it does indeed result in a nice creamy head that sticks around.

It's a plastic copy of Guinness I'm afraid ,and definitely will not be drinking it again ,,

Well to each his own. I personally find Guinness pretty one dimensional and rather boring. It is just base stout with creamy notes. This has much more about it for me.

I do understand what you mean about their naming and rejigging of beers however that seems to be a lot of the craft beer market and in fairness to them, their core beer, Punk has been on supermarket shelves for over a decade now.

I doubt they will get to 300 years like Guinness but it is nice to have an alternative!

Cue the usual argument about whether this is better than Guinness or not. Had plenty of both out of cans and they're both average at best. Would take a can of Murphy's over both.

Guinness is just an average and highly commercial stout.
I give ales marks out of ten and rate Guinness 7/10. Not bad, but not great. So, if this is a 7/10 I'll be happy enough.

    Poor stout, cheap though.

I would not buy brewdog stout again.

Fullers Blackcab was much better IMO

If that is based on their other ones I would say this is worth a go, and £4 isn#t much of a risk. No silly adjucts in the brew so it tastes of stout and not cinnamon, black olives, marshmallows and weasels nose.

    4.1 I believe.

Your hubby shared a can? He's a keeper

This is pretty much on par with Guiness. Both fine but a bit dull. Siren Broken Dream is much nicer.

Yes that is a cracking stout but to be fair it is 3 times the price of this one!

Have tried many stouts over the years, including this, but keep coming back to Guinness. This is ok but not great.

In Ireland we have tins of 4.1% and 4.2% Guinness. If you can get the 4.2% you should try it. A bit more expensive. It’s usually sold in packs of 4 rather than the 12 or 15 packs, but worth it in my opinion.

I'm a Guinness drinker and I've never heard of this. I know about the extra stout (which is a big seller in Nigeria of all places) but not the 4.1 and 4.2 difference. I'm up in Belfast and have never saw any difference.

BTW there's Irelands only Guinness only pub in Belfast and serves nothing but the Black stuff. I've yet to try is as my wife hates it

Didnt like it - too acidic and harsh tasting.. not smooth and creamy like the real black stuff

its ok but did not scratch my guinness itch at the time

If you’re comparing it to Guinness from a can I prefer this. £1 a can I’m down Tesco tomorrow. Heat.

Franciscan Well Shandon Stout is miles better than this

I can't stand Guinness. Is Beamish still going?

Picked up one of the Guinness nitro surges which were on clearance too. Pours a beautiful drink which retains it's head the whole way through

Curious to try one of those although I am cheap and do not want to pay £30! I will look for one on clearance.

I think you'll enjoy it, especially at this price.

Bought some of these a while ago for my OH who usually has Guinness and he thinks it is brilliant.

I thought the offer had finished, so thanks for posting.

Try stout from the kernel brewery. Far better than this or Guinness but you get what you pay for.

Indeed. Drygate Orinoco is phenomenal as well, while we’re listing beers that cost twice as much as this deal.

Good deal , bought some recently it’s worth trying

Not really a Brewdog drinker, but did used to love their 'Jet Black Heart' especially the nitro version. Not tried this yet, so not sure how it compares. (edited)

Totally different beer, weird to me that they gave it such a similar name as I think some will be disappointed it isn't the same. Just go for it with an open mind and you'll enjoy I am sure.

Love Guinness.. but have to say ... I adore BrewDog Cake Cartel .... can't find it in cans anymore
Not sure if there is something similar out there though.

This tastes a lot like Guinness... Obviously that's just my opinion

    HEAT OP 🏻
I had this a while ago.
It's a bit sweet for me, tbh, and not unlike some of their other dark brews.
Then again, I'm a ½ Irish Guinness lover, so poss biased, but i do prefer the Dublin dark stuff.
  25. Myredsock's avatar
Brilliant thank you ! I really enjoyed this. This won't be appropriate for those who like their stouts tasting of a circus though.

Anyone tried ABC stout from Singapore? Hard to get hold of but worth it. There is also an ABC stout extra
  28. MartinOgdenCorrigan's avatar
If any use to anyone, these are 3x 8 packs for 23 quid at Morrisons atm
  29. tom6195's avatar
    Nasty stuff. Stick to Guinness.
    SaturdayGigs's avatar
    Better than boring guiness imo
