I don't quite understand why people say these are so comfy. I've had one on my bike the past two years, have ridden something like 6000km on it. It looks nice but it's rock solid to sit on, the same as it was when I first bought it. No sign of any breaking-in or anything. I've got used to it, and good padded shorts help a lot, but it's probably less comfortable than the basic decathlon saddle that came with my bike.

50580314-c1dLc.jpgIt's not as straightforward as some make out. Brooks saddles come in various widths, the B17 is 175mm wide compared to the Swift which is 150mm wide so there's a fair difference in the two and the B17 is going to be a better fit to someone with wider sitbones than someone who has narrow sitbone measurements. Too wide and your sitting on the hard riveted edge area of the saddle whereas if your sit bones are narrower they're resting on the moulded leather that's acts like a suspension. (edited)

These type of saddles are different than others because they take the shape of your body, bones while regular saddles force your bones to get their shape.

Had one donkeys ago, hammered the copper to enlage them, looked ace, after a year flogged it for the new plassy ones.

Looks like a proper decent saddle unlike those other ones we see on here so often.

Got one years and years ago and to be honest it remained pretty uncomfortable surprised they don't call it the br__it saddle. Much prefer gel saddles but I know some people love these.

Just be aware of never ever parking your bike in a public place ever again.

If anything similar to my ebike and you need a contortionist to get at the seat bolts you’ll be fine.  Currently have an ergon saddle but most unaware of what it is.
Ordered the the black Brooks for this bargain price to go on my regular hybrid bike

Complaints about quality in the reviews - 'they ain't what they used to be'!

I believe they were bought out by Selle Royal a while back and clearly trading on a once great name.

Yes, they’re foreign-owned, but the B17 is just as good as it’s always been

Have a 15 yr old one and still great. So great I don't know what the "new" ones are like but worth a punt. They still use them in Pashleys I believe

Tried a Brooks years ago. Spent about two years waiting for it to get comfortable, tried adjusting the tension, tried Neatsfoot oil... nothing worked, it was the most uncomfortable saddle I've ever had! Give me a Charge Spoon any day!
