Would this work in my 12 year old computer?

It should work as most computers from about 2005 onwards have SATA connection but you most likely will need an adapter to mount it in a 3.5" drive bay as most SATA SSD drives are 2.5" something like this:

This is a *really* good SSD. I bought this in 2018 at a bargain price of £114.98 Upgrading from a spinning HDD brought about a massive improvement to my PC.

*Got the price wrong, included a GPU I bought at the same time. (edited)

I think it's been nerfed since then. Not as good as it once was.

Ideal if ya have an old 500gb nvidia shield. Changed mine to SSD and made a huge difference in speed.

How are you squeezing one of these into a Shield?

If you get one be sure to upgrade the firmware straight away. Have one of these running for less than a year (11 months) and it started spewing errors and becoming unwritable until reboot. Turns out it's a firmware issue that was fixed December last year so we'll worth checking what version you are running and upgrading if required.

Quite expensive for 500GB even if it is an MX500, you can get 1TB drives for a fraction more.

Good option for a SATA 2.5 inch drive, if that is what your PC/ laptop supports.

One of the best SSD's in this style. Has DRAM too. Towards lowest price it has been.
