Don't do it, folks. These drives are abysmal. The performance promises hold up, but only in sustained read benchmarks, and only for the first 1/4 of the drive's capacity. Fill it beyond 1/4 or test with any real-world application, and you're looking at performance like you see below.

I had the 4TB P3+, and sent it back because of how poor the performance was. It was only meant as a WORM drive anyway (I have lots of Kontakt sample libraries) so didn't think the QLC problems would be an issue for me, but in practical performance, with even only a third of my data loaded on the drive (it was taking too long to load it all on), it was loading my projects minutes slower than my basic 1TB Sabrent PCIe 3.0 drive would. These drives are pathetic.

Strange as I have the 4tb and get the stated speeds

I'm looking for a 2TB nVME, the only thing is, they are posted so often here that I can't tell when the right time to buy is, especially knowing that there will be another deal tomorrow.

Don't worry too much about that. If one fits it will work fine, and better than any older HD or SSD you may be upgrading from, and you'll notice a marked improvement.

The tech specs are mainly for tech heads, and if you are doing some specific process where speeds are noticeable, then you'll be the type of person that would know what they want and not need to ask.

Do these nvme drives in general make a big difference if they will only be used as game storage drives for desktop gaming vs the older hdd drives.

I use the 4TB version in my PS5 and works perfectly fine for PS5 games. No loading issues or difference at all to the normal internal SSD

Been using for a few months now with my ps5 and no noticeable difference compared to the replaced faster drive, not sure I would use for my PC though, so imo PS5 worth it, pc not so much.

Is there a review site that tests the nvme drives properly with a large amount of benchmarks (ie 3/4 full)?
