I main the i7-1260U version of this, and it’s my favourite ultrabook. Webcam is better than the 9MP one on my briefly owned Spectre x360 16 2024 (4050), and colour accurate. Microphones excellent, display gets extremely dim and very bright. Keyboard one of my favourites. Speakers beat the iPad Pro 12.9 quite handily, and as far as I’m concerned, the best sound you’re going to get from an ultrabook.
    For <600 it’s a no brainer.
Other things to be aware of. The laptop features two tiny fans and they’re not horrible like on an acer swift, but under load they can be a bit of a nuisance. I’ve just gotten used to it. The display is amazing, but the response times aren’t. Around 40ms which is bad I know but from someone who uses an Alienware 240hz monitor for desktop usage, it’s not a big deal. It’s a work based machine, so I rarely find myself frustrated with the response times.
It supports Dell’s active pen and I’m surprised myself that I haven’t yet bought one. The touchpad is decent; glass, and quiet clickers. It also features those meeting controls that illuminate when you’re, you guessed it, in a meeting, and they’re very handy if I say so myself having been in too many meetings now.
You also get a bunch of other features you will not find on a consumer oriented laptop like presence detection that automatically dims the display when you’re not looking at it, and onlooker detection that will texturize your display so as to prevent others from being able to view what you’re doing. Haven’t found a single use for either tbh, but it’s there.
Ports are a caveat; 3 USB C ports, with thunderbolt 4 support. One usb c to usb an adapter is included. (edited)

And how's the battery life on it, please?

A review of same model (slightly different specs)

Noting especially the easily opened back cover and user replaceable SSD (smaller than 2280) @ 5m50 (edited)

52481457-mzrpB.jpgOr a few quid less if you adjust other options, bare 12 month warranty, etc.
Or £25 less with student beans / perksatwork.

How do you get the code?
  4. ae9's avatar
anyone know the difference between the 2 battery options? They look identical, thanks

    DiDeals's avatar
Looks like one is quick charge and the other has a 3 year warranty so should last longer but charge slower.
  5. medicgaming123's avatar
As someone else said, you can get for £475 with student beans or perks at work.
  6. katana7's avatar
Hi, some help/advice please. I cannot get it down to the £532, not sure what I'm doing wrong. When I click on the link or starts at £1431. 67. Is that correct? After choosing all the options above, only goes down to about £700.
    BlackCats2112's avatar
Just scan through all the options looking for any option with a minus figure which you can take off
  7. tomhlewis's avatar
Has everybody had their order confirmed? Mine still just says received.
    EDEN188's avatar
Just received email that the order is now been shipped, so they are fulfilling the orders.
  8. NitPolice's avatar
    Nice 500 nit screen.
    Laptop looks good
  9. BlackCats2112's avatar
Ordered at £462, with some hopeful TCB to come. Thanks OP and others who have commented. Will be happily replacing my 5 year old Huawei lappy
    tdk2bu's avatar
Can I ask how you managed to get it to £462 please?

EDIT it's ok managed to get it to your £462 price with 256gb ssd (edited)
  10. plewis00's avatar
Thanks for posting and for the review, found I had 10% back on AMEX so decided to give it a go, this seems pretty great with few compromises if any.
  11. tdk2bu's avatar
This is a brilliant deal, can't believe it's not got more heat. Amazing specs for the money.
    plewis00's avatar
I suspect on paper, the specs make it look overpriced compared to other recent cheap Inspirons or Vivobooks while few know about the quality of a Latitude 9000 series or how much they would normally cost. Also, the display may seem overkill and it's a 13" chassis which seem less popular. But I agree, great find and deal.
  12. Noneoftheabove's avatar
Just looked at the Dell outlet and they don't have anything as good. Should get topcashback even if codes don't work. Heat.
    Moss.b's avatar
Thanks, as I was placing the order I thought what if it's cheaper on outlet. But I was to lazy to check and placed the order.
  13. EDEN188's avatar
Great work op, also have £100 off for £750 spend, I might up the spec a little
    WasteOfTimeMoneyAndSpace's avatar
Hi is that offer available generally please, how might I access hat please?t
  14. cool-capybara's avatar
As it's a 2-in-1, I would imagine it is touch enabled.

Great post OP. This seems like an incredible deal. I'm closing to pulling the trigger.
    medicgaming123's avatar
You wouldn’t regret it let me put it that way. If you have access to student beans or perks at work (for me the latter), you can take an extra 5% off. If you remove the fingerprint feature (-£39 which I recommend because the IR is much more convenient to use IMO) and stick to the base warranty and 256GB SSD then you can get this ultra premium convertible for £475.
  15. plewis00's avatar
Very good price for a Latitude 9000 series which are often extremely expensive but high quality. You can drop the FP sensor and take a 256GB drive bringing it down to almost £500 - the SSD should be cheap to replace yourself.
    Moss.b's avatar
    Is the screen wva? Thanks
  16. tomhlewis's avatar
Pulled the trigger and managed £470 with accidental cover for the year.
    damianscotland's avatar
How do you guys getting it for less than £500 ?
  17. tidsy6's avatar
Thank you, just what I was after, though I upped to 1TB
  18. cool-capybara's avatar
£516.29 with 5 years basic warranty and 256GB SSD which I'll upgrade to something beefier. What a deal! (edited)
    plewis00's avatar
Good spot, the extended warranty is very cost effective.
  19. damianscotland's avatar
I was debating to get one, but now I don't need to anymore and will save some money
    Atoins's avatar
    Same here

Advice welcome on this one please, any good for basic needs or anything better for this price?
    Looking for 14" touchscreen.
    dell.com/en-…4sc

    Thanks
    medicgaming123's avatar
This trumps that for sure. Everything is better on this. Reminder that this laptop launched at over £2000, and C-Suite pricing on a business laptop means serious hardware. Quality control on the business lineup is also vastly better than on the consumer based stuff. One’s an entry-level to mid-range convertible with a bad display (250 nits WVA 45% NTSC), bad speakers, a plastic trackpad and mostly plastic build, but a quieter cooling system because of the ryzen chip, and the other is made to the highest standards, with a glass trackpad, incredibly good webcam for 2mp, better keyboard, QHD+ display with pen support, best in class speakers, and a bunch of other features. (edited)
  21. basergorkobal's avatar
    Looks like a great deal.
Is the display glossy being touch enabled? That would be a deal breaker. But the specs don't mention what finish is applied.
    plewis00's avatar
    It’s touchscreen - it’s a 2-in-1 convertible with a 360 hinge.
  22. zarg's avatar
Aren't you better off going for a refurb with a proper gpu at this price point?
    medicgaming123's avatar
I never bought into a work based machine for a proper GPU. Different use cases, as a business oriented laptop it’s the best you can get for the money.

    52481834-drkL8.jpg

I assume this just removes the fingerprint reader?
    medicgaming123's avatar
Yep. The fingerprint scanner isn’t even that good anyway, always preferred the IR camera for signing into stuff.
  24. damianscotland's avatar
Could someone PM me a student discount code please? Thanks!
  25. BlackCats2112's avatar
Super tempting this. I've had my eye on a Zenbook 14 for a while but that would at least £700. I think this Dell, with the extras taken off (getting me down to £462.92) - should suffice for my needs...
    damianscotland's avatar
The lowest I could get was £500, how did you get it for 462?
  26. Moss.b's avatar
    Is this screen wva?
    medicgaming123's avatar
    No it’s IPS.
  27. hotshot's avatar
I just bought a LG Gram i5 16GB 2022 version really wanted a 2 in 1 though is it mad to consider this instead ?
  28. Moss.b's avatar
    Is it free returns?
    plewis00's avatar
It can be but Dell can be awkward if it’s a no-fault return and sometimes try to tell you that you need to pay return postage yourself.
  29. DiDeals's avatar
Does anyone have a spare student or perks at work code they could DM me please?
  30. khodos's avatar
thanks, bought one. I always complain I wish they released a proper keyboard case with a hinge for my tab s8+, and that my lenovo laptop is a bit too heavy/bulky for bed use. I think this might be the best of both worlds.

if someone finds a cheap way to get it with 32GB please let me know. I don't need processing power, but the additional memory would be great for WSL, lots of tabs in the browser, etc. CHeapest way to get 32GB was upgrading the CPU and it came to around £900... (edited)
    tomhlewis's avatar
Its soldered so unless you know somebody who can do it, I expect it wouldn't be cheap / cost effective.
  31. tomhlewis's avatar
I went with the 256gb, I'll probably throw another drive in the WWAN slot. Assuming its m.2
  32. SleazyRaj's avatar
    OOS
    cool-capybara's avatar
I have placed an order since your comment. Maybe try again?
  33. AceDeck's avatar
How does this compare to a MacBook pro m?
    plewis00's avatar
The 1240U and M1 seem to score around the same in Passmark but it really depends what you intend to do with it. I don't get on with Mac OS so it wouldn't be as much use to me whereas the Dell here is a very versatile form factor as well.
  34. 0ldgamer's avatar
    OOS
  35. DanManchester's avatar
grrrrrr OOS, took too long mulling it over bleh
  36. cool-capybara's avatar
I've received an order received email but not an order confirmation yet. Anyone know how likely it is for an order to be cancelled by dell after completing checkout?
    plewis00's avatar
I can see the order in my account but not confirmed yet either. I guess it could only be cancelled or delayed if they had a stock issue as I'm fairly sure mine went through after it was showing out of stock (but I had left in the basket from earlier).
  37. NitPolice's avatar
    Oos
  38. Gooby_pls's avatar
Is it OOS completely or can you order higher specs (e.g., with the FP reader?)
    ae9's avatar
OOS completely, I presume it means they have sold the amount they have of the outer shell etc. regardless of what configuration is inside
  39. BlackCats2112's avatar
I've decided to cancel my order in favour of another lappy I ordered last night.

When cancelling it sounded like there was an issue of some sorts holding it up, but I didn't understand what the adviser said and just wanted it cancelled.

Good luck to those still awaiting confirmation 🤞
    WasteOfTimeMoneyAndSpace's avatar
    Thanks for this post.
Please may I ask you what you went for as an alternative? Also, did you manage to speak to Dell on the phone, when I tried on Saturday it said that they were closed, even though it was within their usual opening hours.

    Thanks for sharing.
