Can someone help me with these model names? There seem to be so many?

    ECAM XXXX
    ESAM XXXX
    etc

e.g. how does this compare to the magnifica S on amazon at £300?
magnifica S vs magnifica evo? why do they make it so confusing? (edited)

From internet, hope helps a bit

The ECAM series is slightly lighter than both the ESAM and ETAM since it uses only one boiler to get your water hot. But to avoid a scenario where you have to wait for minutes, the ECAM makes use of Rapid Steam technology that only takes about 10 seconds to steam up the boiler. The ESAM and ETAM incorporate dual boilers, but there are models that make use of Rapid Steam Technology.

The DeLonghi ECAM, ETAM, and ESAM come with fully automated brewing systems that incorporate milk frothers. Similarly, they all allow you to prepare two cups of coffee simultaneously thanks to dual spouts. But it comes to functionality and convenience, very few machines beat the ETAM’s graceful but powerful features. This includes the exclusive Doppio technology and soft touch buttons with a digital display panel and all the works. To keep the price down, most ESAM bean-to-cup coffee machines only use hard buttons and knobs and don’t include any form of display.

Delonghi machines make a nice cup of coffee. I have one with a milk dispenser ( a pain having to clean and you have to store the milk container in the fridge or the milk goes off,so hardly use it ). The steam frother is a better option and the cost of beans compared to capsules means if you like coffee you will pay for the machine in a year or so. I drink loads and my machine paid for itself in under a year.
    Heat added.

Agree with this, consider myself someone who likes coffee but wont be getting a pod machine. Got the delonghi.com/en-….GB which is the magnifica start for £300. Its fine they use the same brewing unit, burr grinder. Didnt see the point in a milk heating system and instead got a aeroccino cheap.

Americano, coffee (keep pushing water through the coffee after expresso) expresso and steam. Its nice to adjust the coffee strength, add a water filter to prevent limescale but tbh its just gets on with it and makes good coffee once you adjust the grinder between too fine (struggles to push water through) and to coarse where its a bit on the watery side

I use citric acid to descale my delonghi ( food quality 1kg is dirt cheap and lasts years ) I don't bother with a limescale filter. In fact people have a longer life expectancy in hard water areas so those minerals are good for you ( just not for the machine )
I use the citric acid dissolved in the water as you would with the delonghi descaler. As I am in a very hard water area I run a descale and rince cycle reusing the water I collect. Then I run it again with this citric acid water, but in the rinse cycle I change it to fresh tap water as per directions.
My machine is still going strong after a few year of heavy use.

    Now time for a cuppa.

Are these better than the Sage type machines where you grind the beans / tamper etc.?
I just want a decent, strong cup of espresso without the hassle, and these are at least half the price of the other machines.

Yep, the Delonghi bean to cup are very straightforward to use and produce a very decent espresso, it's basically a one button press once you find the correct settings for your desired taste.

They will need a little maintenance now and again, descaling mostly but it's easy to do and does become second nature after a while.

I have a delonghi machine, I can't recall the model number but it's been posted on here multiple times.

My machine has been used extensively but I am reluctant to buy another delonghi. The volume of 'waste' water in the drip tray seems to increase continually, despite me using a spare mug to catch the waste water from the dispenser.
Presumably it is leaking from somewhere inside, I've cleaned it and checked everything I can access but sadly it doesn't fix the problem

Mine started leaking from underneath the drip tray (I never found where from). I cleaned it and did everything I could think of with no success. This lasted 12-18 months.
A few weeks ago it stopped leaking.
I still have to empty the drip tray every time I remove the coffee grounds, but that does the job. It's a pain, but worth it for a good cup of coffee. Descaling is also a pain.
