There's a meningitis outbreak in Mexican hospitals at the moment, foreign medical tourist patients have died. Possibly a drop in tourism? (edited)

Booked Cancun with TUI before was charged Cancun Airport Departure cost of $75 each. TUI would not issue bording passes until this was paid. Hopefully the have scraped this by now but don't hold your breath. (edited)

I've recently come back from a holiday in Cancun and paid the departure tax before checking in - no one checked at all, so we paid for no reason!

I've read that it's hit or miss if it gets checked, but I didn't see anyone on our flight get checked if they had paid it or not.
