Great thanks. Bought a year ago from Screwfix at the more expensive price! Still going strong-use for summer gardening, cycling and hiking!

Pretty good but best going in. They also have really light safety shoes that look like trainers.

guarantee = 1 year is it worth anything? even 6 months is good out of safety stuff so if they refund/replace before a year then they must be pretty confident the dunlop ones? whats the sizing like?

Lots of items show out of stock online at B&Q yet when you go to the store they have plenty! So it may be worth a trip :)

Good to know, thanks.

DeWALT 18V COMBI DRILL at B&Q for £75 instore

Hopefully it's a case of "CONGRATULATIONS!" by now. I have Dewalt drills and drivers that I rate highly, but I'm also a big FATMAX fan - really good stuff that often gets reduced.

All the best (y)

Or learn to use the trigger properly ;)

I splashed out on one of these afer having loads of B&D and Bosch stuff. The difference is amazing. You only need one battery unless you are going to be using it all day long so perfect for DIY. Only down side is it is too powerful to be used as a driver for most smaller screws unless you want to keep faffing on with Torq settings so maybe get a separate driver as well

Absolutely nothing. I'm a massive Stanley Fatmax fan I've got drills, spanners, screwdrivers, toolboxes, chisels etc. I have nothing against Stanley at all, I just wanted to put (what I thought was fact as I've seen it mentioned on other dewalt threads) for information for everyone but maybe I shouldn't have bothered (cheeky) In my defence I haven't slept since Wednesday as I'm sat in the delivery suite with my wife who's been induced into labour so don't be too hard on me guys.

Cordless ones are now the choice of thieves. Caught some on cctv cutting bikes from locks in busy apartment buildings

Need one of these just for protection against moped thieves. Ill saw right through their helmet if they try rob me

I got uber-excited when this alert popped up on my watch - was slightly disappointed to see it was the 240v rather than the 18v/cordless version which I'm after (lol)

whats this like compared to the one posted? https://www.diy.com/departments/500w-corded-impact-drill-vid500hf/735538_BQ.prd £15 ?

I think SDS is the type of chuck that it uses. I think this is a standard 13mm chuck rather than the SDS fitment. And I think SDS can be used on just hammer action so it won't spin for things like chisels.

What's difference between this and sds?

The small one is also really small, and you can’t put much in the tray because the handle recess and outside sections take up the room.

Plumber here. These are not even worth £5. I bought a pair in December for around £12 but found out very quickly that they are not good at all.

Has anyone managed to find stock

Ah yes, looks like you're right. I think I'll buy a set then. Seems to work out much better value getting a set rather than a single pair from a good brand. Set of 3 Rothenberger for £46 seems decent? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002NKG522/

Not sure the £9 from screwfix are the same though...the ones pictured as superior are £18.99. Suspect the cheaper ones are single sided hence much more likely to twist. These seem like pretty good value, more robust than the basic design whilst not the rolls Royce of pipe grips.

U-can magnetic radiator heat saver was £14 now £3.50 instore Edinburgh B&Q (possibly Nationwide)
LocalLocalFound 10th AugFound 10th Aug
Energy saving by reflecting heat back into the room Cuts down heat loss to up to 50%, helping enhance living comfort. Accelerates temperature rise in the room thereby reducing ener… Read more

You almost sound like you know what you’re talking about but you’re missing the distinction between radiant and convected heat. Simply lining the wall behind a radiator with foil will serve only to reflect radiant heat, mostly back to the radiator and some into the room (radiant heat travels in straight lines so it’s unlikely you’d feel the benefit of this reflected heat unless your exposed skin was in its path, radiant heat does not heat air!) Foil is a very good conductor of heat so any warm air passing will still lose some of the heat, via conduction, to the foil and to the building fabric. The implication that it will cut a rooms heat loss by 50% is frankly absurd.

Your (sic) clearly a genius. Can I interest you in an over unity machine I've just designed? Yes, people "like me" who don't waste the earth's resources on useless tat like this are the main reason we have global warming.... If it's such an effective energy saver, why don't all new builds have this installed as standard behind every radiator? Is it some conspiracy by big oil?

Some benefit to this but not much .. ppl are wrapped in foil so they stay tender and juicy

Not true at all. Like I said it’s SIMPLE physics. The foil bounces the heat back & forth creating a heat pocket behind the rad. Hot air rises...we know this from primary school... so the heat will be FORCED to rise above the pocket / radiator into the room. Don’t believe me test it. Get a small piece of foil and stick it there with a bit of tape ul hear it flapping like a fan. As for new radiators being convectors. Your wrong on 2 points: 1- they are simply not convectors. 2 - even if they were. They are mainly on new builds. They have plaster board cavity walls. So unless you want to warm the cavity you better line it. If your still not getting it, Just think....Why do we use foil to reflect heat? when there is an emergency at the road side people are wrapped in foil blankets.... why? When you smash open a microwave guess what lots of foil. Because it reflects heat and does not absorb it like a brick wall. People like you is the reason we have a global warming problem. Next you’ll say a Tesla uses more oil

I'd love to know where they get the savings figures from...

Out door bench. B&q - £43 (free C&C)
Found 9th AugFound 9th Aug
Out door bench.

This still shows up at the same price. not sure why it is expired.

Buy cheap buy twice

I completely agree, I bought one of these less than 2 years ago and was affectively worthless by the start of the summer, completely flaked off, rusted bolts that won't come out and split slats. It definitely can't cope being outdoors.

got a couple of these from wilko 2 years ago, cost £35 each. A cap in one of the metal parts was missing which meant that water would go in. had to use some filler. the metal bits had paint falling off and rusted areas. Recommend spray painting any rough looking areas with a matt black to protect bad bits. I keep mine inside or in a shed and they've kept in decent condition (no more visible paint flaking or rust). don't think they'd last long if left outside due to poor finish in the metal parts. I'd probably buy them again, but this time i'd paint them BEFORE assembling them...

Still got my old battered one without bit storage. New one is (poo) with cheaper plastics. Clearly Stanley has cheapened out & going in the wrong direction as a business. As they say, buy cheap, buy twice with tools.

Yeah I wouldn't bother. I took mine back. Wished I had bought 2 back in the day.

I have one & it’s not great. The lid for the storage compartment keeps coming undone when I’m using it

I've got the original one as well (The bottom doesn't come off to store the bits though, they're all round the collar) my one still works great after years of use. Was thinking about buying this as a spare for a fiver, but sounds like I would be disappointed!

I have an original one bought about 9 years ago which is great. They changed the manufacture of them a few years ago. The latest ones are very poor quality. Ratchet mechanism fails. I bought one and compared side by side. Every element is cheaper.
