Missed out! Went into my local curry’s and they had the deal but sold out the last one yesterday - bad timing! I wonder if more retailers will follow suit abs start liquidating these older generations now that the 9 has been out for a while :/
Managed to get a GoPro 7 Black edition for £158, last one. They also had the extra battery pack and charger in store, showing as half price from £50 to £25 but just checked my receipt and was only charged £12.50
just bought here in Nottingham for £158, i guess the last one go pro black 7
Thanks for that (y) 🏾
Don’t bother, you can’t charge it and use it at the same time.
Was a better bundle for the same price a few months ago in 2020. This ships from EU currently - you will need to pay import duty.
just have a look at GoPro's Trustpilot first before buying anything from there... I always wait for deals on Very/Amazon/John Lewis - might be a bit more in the end but at least I'll receive the product.
Never miss a 'Action Camera' deal again!

This or the osmo action with all the accessories at Argos?
cheers, i have a ghost that lasts over 2 hrs when im on my motorbike but the quality isnt as good as what ive seen from these but i cant be stopping all the time changing batteries :(
if you're getting a gopro - you'll be getting extra batteries (there's good 3rd party ones on amazon for much cheaper) if you're getting a gopro just as a webcam - don't. It's still in beta (yes, still) and you need a lot of light for it to look somewhat acceptable. Only @ 720 & 1080 also, would be great if they could do 4k on webcam as you're using the same lens... but guess not (annoyed)
Welcome back to Earth mate, the new 9 is £320....
Not great in absolute terms, I use one for trackdays and get 3 20min sessions before needing to recharge. But I don't know how that compares to any other action camera capable of the same quality.
wow amazing price for the 7 black, been using gopros for my advertising business and gopro 4/5/6/7/8/9 (plus a bunch of accessories) have never let me down. Have used an Osmo before on site and some footage became corrupted - hard pass from me on that cam.
£229 for me
Insta360 do a 1" sensor one. And it still looks a bit bulbous. 4/3 would be too unwieldy.
Ordered mine Monday arrived today. Had saw your post was a bit concerned as I had already ordered, glad I did order now. This is what came.
Not as bas as gopro i see.. And at least dji respond.. Again gopro ignore
DJI terrible company
Yes used a card - got refunded next day. No issue there.
It's a great price for what is essentially a action camera with a quality picture. There are however lots of customer stories around the quality of how water tight this actually is, lots of examples where the seal has failed and corroded the battery.
Got one 5 years ago and video quality is very bad under water
Yeah but they are at least modernised and higher quality than 1948 yet these aren't any better than they were when they came out. There are better cheaper alternatives out there than these
This looks like it came out in year 2000, because I remember buying one of these for £2-300 so it's worth the price but too much new technology has come out now. I really want a camcorder to record all the kids and family with something that isn't a mobile phone
I'm guessing you weren't around then? :D We would have killed for this in 1995....and in 2005.
After having 2 go pros I didn't find them that brilliant especially in dull conditions, I suppose time move on.
£160 for "refurbished" one of these seems like poor value when you can buy a used DJI Osmo Action for £180 very easily. (That's the price CEX charge for B-grade ones with 2-year warranty thrown in.) The DJI camera is leagues ahead of this generation of GoPro in my experience.
decent price, but the 7 was a significant step up so maybe worth spending the extra few quid to get a 7

Something on this camera I like, a reasonable size HDMI socket. Pretty rare on action cameras. I had been looking for a cheap wide angle camera shot to feed a video switcher (ATEM).
Can anyone recommend a decent wildlife camera , if not this one ?
The first one I got was actually from Woolworths, so that's how far back we're going, it was my first digital camera, the menus were difficult to navigate, and indoor picture quality was diabolical. Fast-forward a few years, I can't remember where I got another camera (which is still before cameras on phones were any good), but despite it having a higher Megapixel count, quality was still terrible.
A 4k action camera with 1080p video recording, what a time to be alive!
A mistake is once, a few well thats something else entirely.

They were ace, and phones were less waterproof back then. I think I paid £280 for the FT3 and £250 for the FT4 and agree that they’re ace. If this was better I’d have kept it, but I had a FZ150 bridge and a RX100-III that wiped the floor with it apart from the waterproof side of things, and it wasn’t worthwhile keeping. If I had more use for one I’d probably look at competitors options.
I had an original FT1 from 2009 and it finally died last year. It started to be relegated to limited underwater use but it was such a good camera for its time and almost indestructible. I think over the last 5 years they have been harder to justify at these prices and I wouldn’t buy again but at the time they were a revelation.
I tested my iPhone 8 Plus in a pool years ago and they provide good footage but it’s still an expensive gadget to risk. Especially if you’re away from home and that’s you’re only way of contacting people. And like you say, they’re not made for focusing underwater. Yeah waterproof casings are extortionate. I used to love waterproof cameras. Used them loads when I was travelling and doing more adrenaline things but that happens less so nowadays so it’s not worthwhile owning one. Nice shot though dude.
I have used my iPhone X (which is waterproof), in a watertight case and snorkeled with it, but found that the water pressure on the touch screen stopped the camera from focusing underwater properly, as soon as I surfaced, it was fine, but underwater is was blurry. I take my DSLR on holiday with me (when we could still go on holiday!), but getting a waterproof casing for it costs more than this camera, I also wouldn't fancy dropping my DSLR either, so having a camera like this could be handy for some excursions. But I would prefer to have the detail I get from my Nikon given the chance. :)
I got this camera just before Christmas. It's poor and I would stay clear. It frequently mists up when you take it outside (and it's never been near water) the shutter button often sticks so it takes a hundred photos when you only want one and the WiFi to use your phone as a remote viewfinder and control is the most temperamental thing I have used in the last ten years.

Are they still getting away with flogging these for over 300 quid? I help run a car racing club, where cameras are compulsory for post-race investigations. GoPros are definitely the worst for failing to record, or for deciding to switch into photo instead of video mode for no obvious reason. For 2021 we're mandating hard-wired cameras (effectively dashcams) because we just can't trust GoPros and the like.
I've had a lot of GoPros too. In my experience, all of them up to and including the Hero7 were great. From Hero8 onwards the firmware has been unreliable and there are overheating issues. I still regularly use my Hero7 though and it never lets me down. Hero9 has some amazing cutting edge features, but 5K video across a tiny 1/2.3 inch sensor in such a tiny body is pushing the limit of what's achievable to breaking point. Which is why they crash so often and there are so many reports of SD cards getting corrupted.
Not sure how accurate your final sentence is. Generally the sensor is what is more important when it comes to IQ not MP. Bigger pixels can assist with light sensitivity, but to be fair I think that a GoPro 7, 8, 9, Osmo... etc will all out preform most people’s needs. This also comes with an extra battery and a SD card. I have had many GoPro cameras from the 3 Black, 5, 7 and Session. I would have no hesitation in buying another.
This "deal" seems to be on most of the year. And gets posted again and again. In case anyone was considering it, unbiased reviewers say the Hero9 is a pretty glitchy camera - regularly freezes and the footage on your SD card gets corrupted. You'd be better off getting something like the DJI Osmo Action instead. That's got pretty solid firmware and excellent picture quality. It's also pretty easily available for about £200 (or even less for refurbished models). Also, while this has "32 Megapixels" and it sounds impressive, keep in mind it's not the number of pixels that matters, it's the quality of those pixels that makes the difference. The Osmo Action, Hero8, Hero7, Insta360 One R, they all have bigger pixels. Bigger pixels = more light = better quality.

GoPro 'The Strap' Action Camera Strap Mount - Free Delivery £17.97 - Currys / PC World£17.97 Free P&P FreeCurrys PC World Deals
True enough. I used to be a big fan of GoPro in the early days, but they got greedy quickly and now their stuff is prohibitively expensive. I've not owned a camera of theirs for nearly 10 years, but luckily everyone else uses their mounting system. I wouldn't consider this at full price, but recon it's worth it at this price point.
Not directly related but I bought some velcro the other day for something else bike related, which is an eye opener as it highlights the mark-up on a bit plastic and velcro must by utterly enormous.
I think it depends on how creative you want to be. I have quite a few different mounts and it's pretty cool the footage you can get outside of the regular helmet / chest cam stuff that dominates YouTube. Personally, I bought this for my daughter to use on her ankle and get some unique footage of her roller skating, but it'll be interesting to play around with, especially with the 360° rotation of the base. Not for everyone, but at this price hopefully a lot better than the cheaper alternatives.
