Critics Consensus
Badass to the max, Enter the Dragon is the ultimate kung-fu movie and a fitting (if untimely) Bruce Lee swan song. Read critic reviews

I did try to watch martial arts films. But sadly they were rubbish. Hence they didn't do anything at the box office.

Even in the 80's watching no retreat, no surrender. It was such a work of fiction I couldn't believe any of it. What made me laugh in that film, was the lad who was training took so many steroids. By the end of the movie. He was bigger than Van Damme. Imagine Jean Claude against Marvin Hagler or something? Would have been a masacre?

Imagine someone like a Beterbiev? Go watch his highlights on youtube.

Enter the dragon made 400 million at the box office and is one of the most profitable movies of all time 🤦‍♂️

Martial arts like this are all fake. They are probably all on wires.

I know it was a boxing movie/s. But at least the Rocky films had cameos from real fighters and some proper, proved boxers fought as a character in the film. It was believable and had people up and screaming in the cinema.

This lot are about as genuine as Frank Dux and the black belts most had at UFC 1

Dancing around with Bolo. Some juiced up old bodybuilder that wouldn't go 3 mins with Bisping isn't something to boast about.

So this film is pre wires, so it's actually real in that sense. No film has real fighting though as that would be silly, it's all choreographed and really what you watch for in martial arts films is better choreography and film story as they really make a good film. This film is brilliant and well worth a watch, it has a bond style theme going through it with a villain who's quite fun.
I would argue all the films of the 70s martial arts are way more real than now, in particular shaw brother films. They often broke bones, shattered backs and as soon as they were well enough, they would be back on set doing it again. Some of Jackie Chan's earlier films have some amazing stunts, far exceeding what is possible today.
So basically I cannot disagree with your comment more and I think you should go watch the film first before watching early martial arts films.

I love this movie, so cool in style, such a shame Bruce Lee didn't get to do more 😔

Got it in order with Amazon, looking forward to watching it again, but I am not expecting it to look top quality in 4k, it's always looked a bit rough around the edges and of it's time/budget. Still it will be nice to have, and will be better than the DVD I have somewhere. (edited)
