DO NOT UPDATE PRINTER FIRMWARE ON INSTALL.

Epson have started blocking the use of compatible ink cartridges by updating the firmware.
When installing DO NOT UPDATE if you want to use refillable or replacement carts.

Can't you just inject the ink in the cartridge, as long as you're using the original Epson cartridge? (edited)

Does the printer come with ink? Can you get cheap replacement cartridges?

2 min search on ebay.. yes compatibles.. yes is come with ink all printers do.. not much but some.
High Capacity 18.2ML for per 604XL Black, 12ML for per 604XL Cyan, 604XL Magenta, 604XL Yellow
complete set £11.95 for 4.. just an example.. can go cheaper..
compare like for like.. some seller tell you how much per cartridge others don't
compare this to the price of epson cartridges and its a bundle.. epson are usually 30-40 per set.

If you're just going to be printing a lot of text, buy a good laser printer.

If you want pictures, buy this and use 3rd party ink.

I want to try and see if this works with Windows XP. Ah XP and 2001 when it came out. All great. The best Windows OS or is that Windows 7?

Probably right about still using XP so long as you don't go online. Modern version just have more and more rubbish. Excel and Word were just as good in 2001 for normal work. All these people running huge systems on spreadsheets are taking a risk. Proper software is safer , but don't use the Post Office system

Does it take third party ink cartridges?
