Harsh perhaps but I'd suggest 16gb is a prerequisite these days...

This is decent, but the retail surface pro 10 announcement is just a few weeks away.

Surface Pro 10 will be lots more expensive, this is why you always see lower prices just before a new model is released. It's not a new thing...

Given that the surface pro 9 came out in 2022 and you could get one for £899 within weeks of launch, this isn't all that much of a discount. As for the new pro price, that may launch at a similar price of £899, but it's also launching with a new generation of SoC, so only time will tell.

Alright gang, I'm sick of buying rubbish tablets and I'm willing to throw down some cash (for once ). Can anyone please recommend me a fast windows or android tablet, with a tonne of ram, for up to £1000? I mainly want it for Hearthstone and a bit of couch browsing, but if it could also run Photoshop/illustrator, maybe even a video editing software, I'd be happy!

Android won't run Photoshop or Illustrator just FYI. If you are happy to use replacement apps then Galaxy Tab S9/S9+/S9 Ultra are some of the best Android tablets on the market. Available in 3 different sizes which is handy depending on what your preference is. Dex is an amazing UI turning the tablet into more of a desktop environment. The amount of different affordable cases and accessorres is also unmatched (the keyboard case and S-Pen cost me less than £40 from CeX).

If you insist on using the likes of Photoshop then Surface Pro 9 is probably the best Windows tablet you can get right now. Just pick a version with the i7, 16GB RAM and sufficient storage.

Many people recommend Galaxy Books 360 which are great alternatives but they are 2-in-1 laptops and not true tablets (no detachable keyboard). (edited)

Price is good, quality control on the surface products is terrible, the ribbon cables in their keyboards are the worst offender, breaking after a year on average.

Definitely bad design. The folio design on the keyboards makes it normal to press against the ribbon cable and damage it. And disconnecting the keyboard pulls on the ribbon since the magnets are so strong.

IMO it's better to buy a standalone keyboard like the Logitech K380s that can be used with other devices. Also makes the Surface more useful as a tablet/screen that can be placed anywhere rather than an awkward laptop-like.

Same about the storage of 256GB! Not good in 2024, already wasn't great in 2020...

cheaper on fleebay and you can always ask for serial no before buying to check warranty with MS.

Best to ask for proof of purchase from the seller as well to make sure the tablet is not company-owned. Essentially stolen from businesses by ex-employees. There was a plague of those at one point.
